Alnaimi Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 How the hell do I defeat Sky Dragon on TCS Monk? Only time I save scummed, because I was not expecting him to hit that hard, while more than 70% of my hits miss after chugging down Potion of Eldritch Aim. Tried to set up a Gaze of Adragan Trap before the battle start, but my damage was not enough to kill him.

b0rsuk Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Did you take the Powerful Traps talent ? Character backgrounds explored (Callisca)
Alnaimi Posted April 23, 2015 Author Posted April 23, 2015 Did you take the Powerful Traps talent ? My build was as follow: 1. Torments Reach 2. Lesser Wounds 3. Turning Wheel 4. Two Weapon Style 5. Long Stride 6. Peasant Weapon Proficiency 7. Duality of Mortal Presence 8. Fast Runner 9. Crucible of Suffering 10. Vulnerable Attack 11. Enervating Blows 12. Deep Pockets Problem is, I miss a lot of my hits, even with Eldritch Aim and War Paint chugged down. I seem to have 0 problems with any other encounter.
Emptiness Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Have you done the game solo with that character on Path of the Damned, without Expert and Trial of Iron? No point in investing the time in a game mode that is supposed to allow no mistakes until you know that you can succeed at every battle you will choose to face. Without ToI you can reload and replay that battle as often as you like until you figure out how to win it, or decide not to try, and then use the successful approach when you do your TCS run. 1
MadDemiurg Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 His aura gives -20 accuracy. Potion that reduces hostile effects duration should help I think. 1
Tigranes Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 I only did Hard ironman solo Monk, but for me it was not so much a problem of missing 70% as it was (1) grazing too often, (2) getting past DR with fists or fast weapons when I did hit. The answer was, of course, fan of flames scrolls + potion of eldritch aim... though if you're missing all the time, then that won't work either. Let's Play: Icewind Dale Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Icewind Dale II Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Divinity II (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG1 (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG2 (In Progress)

I liked the idea of a "parallel" run, yet thought I wouldn't require it; as I have finished the game twice already, once on full party normal, and second on hard monk solo. I think I was just not expecting the high deflection and will (reduced duration of harmful spells) on PoTD. His aura gives -20 accuracy. Potion that reduces hostile effects duration should help I think. I completely missed that. Something to bring for next encounter; yet I don't want to go up there until I am sure I can kill him.
