I've finished the game twice with full parties and want to try solo.   I'll probably only play on Normal as I'm not a pro at the game and was thinking anything BUT a Fighter or Barb.  What's a good class and build for that class for solo run through success?

On Normal? Pretty much anything. Invest in Constitution and/or the "tanky" stats (perception and resolve), equip plate armor and use any figurines you find.

Roll a cipher. On normal/hard you can get away with sanguine plate/tidefall, for pod you might want to switch to sword+board.

In normal cipher should really be fun, since it's kinda squishy but still barely works even in PotD. The damage output is huge, which at least for me is a fun part.
