Even if it were proven GamerGate were conservative, your entire argument would be a meaningless ad hominem making the ridiculous suggestion that someone with conservative stances cannot be correct or offer valuable insight.

 

GamerGaters love to think of themselves as Libertarian Liberals. There's nothing Liberal about them, though, and their Libertarian stance is about as developed as a child throwing a tantrum because mummy or daddy tells them to do their chores.

If we play the "men benefit more than women" card, then why are men still forced into military service in plenty of industry nations across the globe (note: it was only 7 years ago that germany dismissed the law of civil defense service) and why do women mostly by default win courts about child custody?

 

There's unequality on both sides, good and bad. Yes, men usually have more opportunities, nobody denies that, but equality also means looking at those cases where the status quo is in favour of women.

 

And child custody is serious business. Far more important than inheritence.

In Finland it was male only parliament and male president that decided to add compulsory military service for male citizens of Finland in our constitution and every single parliament after that one has been male dominated in numbers that would allow them to change our constitution, but only propositions to change that law has come from our feminist politicians that drive through law that allowed women to do voluntary military service and currently their efforts to make military service compulsory for women too has been blocked by male majority in our parliament. But still every time males remember rise it as an issue which men had to suffer and women don't when topic of gender equality comes up.

 

Same goes for other things like child custody cases, although in Finland studies about subject show that men win majority of cases that go in court, even though public belief about subject suggests opposite result.

 

 

Somehow, I find all that very hard to believe. Obviously, politicans are jerks without any sense of reality. And we both know that. But I find it hard to believe that finland is absolutely the opposite of germany in that regard with just a few hundred miles distance from each other.

I can't say how things are in Germany, but in Finland we have compulsory armed service because of fact that majority of men want such thing to exists and women don't have compulsory armed service for same reason. Of course there are men that feel that they are oppressed by such constitutional duty and that it is unfair that women don't have similar duty, but even if count them to be oppressed it is because of men population of Finland.

 

Of course there is reasons why compulsory military service is popular in Finland, like for example the fact that we have about 1340 km worth of border line with Russian which is country that we have had very erratic relationship in past thousand years, which has heavy influence in our culture, traditions and political thinking. And those influences aren't easily swept under carpet in couple decades of somewhat peaceful go existence.   

 

So it isn't just politicians being politicians, as usually in polls it show that elected members of Parliament show more willingness to seek ending compulsory military service and moving in fully paid army or selected  (about 50-70% support current system depending on poll and year) than regular citizens (about 60-75% support current system depending on poll and year). And I would guess that this year we will see highest approval rate for current system in long time, because of Russia's actions in recent times especially increased political nagging towards Finland, increased military activity near our borders and repeated incidents in our airspace by Russia's military aircrafts.
