Some command to keep your guys exactly where they stand so they don't move from their position?

I think they always just stand around unless you order them otherwise? I understand that lots of people actually want AI options to correct this!

Now that's a good point! If you can see your friend has been charmed, is your first thought really to cut him down?(^o^)

um, there IS an option to turn off auto-attack.  it was the very fist option I checked when I started playing and realized that autoattack breaks their own engagement system.

Well, there could be an underlying reason.
