What class you think does the best buffs and why?

Chanter, pally or priest?

- I like the chanter, but don't like summons

- Pally would be too busy tanking

- If I make a priest it's to heal from afar.

Thoughts?

You don't have to take the chanter's summon invocations if you don't want to. There's only about six of them in total and at every level there are many other invocations you can take instead. Paladins can tank and buff at the same time - once you switch on an aura it just keeps going for the rest of combat and your paladin is free to do other stuff. Having said that paladins don't have the variety of buffs that chanters and priests do so they're probably not ideal for you. You can always put a priest in the second rank with a pike if you want to and, for the most part, if you're close enough to heal, you're close enough to buff.

Edit: More detail added and spelling fixed.

Thanks for your reply :)

AFAIK the chanter's strength is summons, so wouldn't he be crippled without them?

Summons are very handy, no doubt, but the chanter's damage, debuff and crowd control invocations are nothing to sneeze at.

Thanks again.

I feel that the Cipher is far too fragile for an offtank, so rolling crazy, dual wielding, interrupting bard!

Chanters are indeed pretty boss. Even Kana, the companion one, offers great permanent buffs, Invocations that are at least as powerful as Wizard spells and his combat performance does not leave much to be desired. Spoony bards the Chanters definitely aren't.

Priests are also pretty good with tons of utility spells, but have the disadvantage of no pre-buffs. A Chanter sings as soon as battle is joined.
