Royal edition, collector's box and number of keys available

Hi everyone,

 

Back in 2012 me and my brother backed the game, at the $140 tier, for a physical collector's box. My understanding was we get two digital keys plus the drm free dvd within the box. Or I can only redeem one royal edition key from the product tab. My brother won't be happy if I redeem it and he has to wait for the when the box arrived (we're from France).

Since the time of the pledge I didn't participate or really follow the development of the game, nor come here on the forum to check things out. I know Obsidian and have total faith in the game, my brief testing of the beta was enough to convince me I did the right choice. But now I'm confused and don't remember anything. Do I get two digital keys or did I misunderstand the pledge?

It’s one key redeemable on Steam or GOG, and one coming with the disc.

 

If you go with GOG you will be able to share the same installer (including playing at the same time) while waiting for the disc to come to your door.

If you go with Steam it *might* be possible to do it, but I don’t know how. Just wait for some Steam wizard if you need details

On Steam you can "lend" a game to another account but you won't be able to play it while you're lending. Which is why I opted for GoG for my digital version so both me and my partner can play at the same time.

Unfortunately you misunderstood the pledge. I have the same tier as you do. And only one key for Royal Edition is available from that pledge. The other copy will come with the disc.

It's possible through Offline play to play the same game on two computers through Steam, but it requires coordination and can be headache sometimes.

 

It is much easier through GOG to basically share a game, although it's tiny bit illegal and not how it's meant to be played.

Depends on how you share.

You essentially have 2 options from what I can see.

• Either Redeem it on GoG - so you both can get access to it.
• Or use Steam Family Sharing -> http://store.steampowered.com/promotion/familysharing

The thing with steam family sharing is it has a loop hole.

Only the user who the game is shared with needs to be online to access the other users library.

True. Here in France I’m legally allowed to share my entire GOG library with my family (close family: father, mother, brothers and sisters only).
