Mac Client won't launch from Steam

Is anyone else having trouble getting the Mac client to launch through Steam? All I get is "Preparing to launch..." then the window closes but the client does not launch.

    I experienced the same and from what I can tell, it is not even downloading it properly as it goes from install to play within seconds.  Unsure what the issue is.

     

    I am on Yosemite and Steam's 10/20/2014 build

    Configure browser push notifications
    Chrome (Android)
    1. Tap the lock icon next to the address bar.
    2. Tap Permissions → Notifications.
    3. Adjust your preference.
    Chrome (Desktop)
    1. Click the padlock icon in the address bar.
    2. Select Site settings.
    3. Find Notifications and adjust your preference.
