DC has been on a dark and gritty kick for about ten years. It's depressing.

They need to lighten it up and get a Shazam/Captain Marvel movie out. Its Superman meets Harry Potter. Its a goddamned license to print money.

They did a Shazam short.

It was dark as hell.

Could have been worse. Could have been an adaption of Trials of Shazam (Not that Trials of Shazam was bad, just really dark)

They tried cramming Shazam's origin story into a ten minute short while at the same time making it a Superman short.

Return of Black Adam was 20 minutes. It was longer than all the others, which was why it got its own release. I actually thought it was really good, but I would prefer a stand-alone full length Shazam one without Supes.

Anyone going to LRRCon in Seattle next weekend? Loading Ready Run's con that they are putting on for funding their Kickstarter?

  • 3 weeks later...

Bump for politeness' sake

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

I completely forgot why I asked you to - no, wait, I remember.

Update 83, if my math is correct, should be coming out the week of, if not Preview Night of SDCC. Jolly fun way to start convention week, I should say!

A dark Shazam story? I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Check out the Trials of Shazam. Its straight up gory. Superman/Shazam: Return of Black Adam wasn't that dark, but was part of the Warner Premiere series of PG-13 shorts and features, so its definitely darker than anuthing on JL. Probably on par with JL:Doom.

The Kingdom Come version of Shazam was downright freaky.
