Can I start a new game with out affecting my current game?

I have a friend coming over and I want him to try it out from the beginning but I am already halfway through the game. I am wondering if I can start a new game without it affecting my current game?

I am playing on pc if that matters.

Thanks for any help

As long as you make a save (not an autosave) you should be fine.

Load your last checkpoint and do a manual save.  The game will override the checkpoints but you can just load your manual save and you'll be fine.

You may have trouble.  My first play through, every time I tried to create a new manual save using a new block, it overwrote my top save.  I wanted to save the most disturbing part of the game and the save before the end, but it kept overwritting despite me telling it to create a new save block.

Of its a pc then just copy the save folder.
