June 9, 201312 yr Floods are a moderate but rather frequent bane in the lower plains of Mitteleuropa, but in terms of destruction and human losses it's not even closely comparable to earthquake or tsunami/tornado-ridden areas around the world. Rain makes everything better.

June 10, 201312 yr It's pretty close to me (yet far enough away, luckily). The affected areas are quite big, though. People are talking about it being the biggest flood since the 14th century or something (I can't find the definitive date right now :>). What surprises me most is that I somehow don't hear / see a lot about it in the news. And yeah, apparently the officials have huge problems with raising donations for the people living in the affected areas.
