SadExchange Posted November 29, 2012 Share Posted November 29, 2012 Sorry for my ignorance, but haven't kept up in awhile. When dealing with video card updates, should I always update to the newest drivers even though my card is never featured in the patch notes? What I mean is I have a Nvidia 275 GTX, however only the 680s and 660 are ever featured in the notes for the drivers or beta drivers. Am I still gaining performance as well? Gorth Posted November 29, 2012 Share Posted November 29, 2012 Depending on how old your card is, you may not get a lot of performance out of it anymore, but if the release notes for my card is anything to go by, they often includes bugfixes for stability issues, OS versions, tweaks for specific (popular) games etc. “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. The days of seeing any kind of performance increase for your video card are long over, but you can still see stability updates even with older video cards. Unless your card is no longer supported by the driver release, you should continue to update your drivers, provided that the bug fixes in the rest include games you play.
