Pretty much what the thread title says. Is there any way to get the sound to play correctly with a 5.1 speaker setup, or am I stuck with it only using the front three speakers?

This worked for me:

1. Download and run ALCapsViewer

2. When you run it, check the ID String of your sound card under "OpenAL Devices". For example, my third party soundcard had the following: "Auzen X-Fi Audio [DF00]

3. Open your "My documents"-folder, there should be an Alpha Protocol folder there.

4. Open the following file: \...Documents\Alpha Protocol\APGame\Config\APEngine.ini

5. Under the [ALAudio.ALAudioDevice]-section, there should be a line that goes "Device Name = Generic Software". Change it to whatever the ID string was in the ALCapsViewer. In my case, i changed it to this: "Device Name = Auzen X-Fi Audio [DF00]".

6. I also changed the number of channels in the same section from 32 to 128 (this depends if it is supported by the sound card).

7. Close and Save.

By doing this, i managed to get 5.1 audio on voices and other sounds, except for the soundtrack. For some reason, it is stuck on 2.1.
