Mamoulian War Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Thats what I thought. How is that as an instance? It cant be too hard because prior to every WG battle the trade chat is lit up with PuG calls. It's really simple, everyone needs to have above 1600 dps (I think it might be lower than that) on 25 man and all dps has to do is not move when it's raining rock spikes on them specifically (DBM/Bigwigs will tell you when that's happeneing) and stay out of the "fart clouds". Tanking is a little more complicated in that the main tank will get picked up and the OT has to taunt fast. That's really it. As he said simplest raid boss in game Sent from my Stone Tablet, using Chisel-a-Talk 2000BC. Aristes Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I seriously doubt that Blizzard has to worry about folks quitting because millions of folks who think the game is too damned easy. Yes, WotLK is easier than BC. On the other hand, it's a hell of a lot less tedious, too. I haven't done any raiding in WotLK, but I can tell you that it was tough to get a raid going with my current guild in BC. If WotLK is more accesible, I'm fine with that. That's not necessarily because it's easier on my guildies, but because I think the game should hearken to its casual gamer roots. The fact that crafting is so much easier and the mats are considerably more abundant is another thing that strikes me about the xpac. Hell, I would probably be evern more irritated about the Death Knight craze, although I don't much care about that either. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure some folks will find it pathetically easy and stop playing, but probably more will keep playing and many who would otherwise not be able to raid will now have the chance. ...And, if it really is so terribly easy, I expect to see some of the big patches introduce harder raids. I never did anything more than off trash mobs in the Sunwell Plateau, but I hear the raid was tough. The point is, there have always been harder MMORPGs out there if you're looking for greater challenges or bragging rights.

The biggest thing about Naxx is that it doesn't require you to have farmed for gear until the cows come home. It requires people to be intelligent and not asleep. Kara and it's cohorts were designed to force the group to gear up for the fights, things hit like trucks and required damage to be VERY high. Naxx things hit a lot lighter and doesn't require much in the way of dps, but the fights also require more movement and coordination amongst raiders. Sunwell was the hardest thing on the planet when it came out, most guilds couldn't complete it until the 3.0 global nerf. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Mamoulian War Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) No. Karazhan was 10x harder than Naxxramas... We were able to clear Karazhan for the 1st time after 3 or 4 resets, we cleared Naxx 10 in 1 day, and Naxx 25 in 2 days after we set a foot in there for the 1st time... And everything with almost same people. And yes as you said you have to be not asleep in there... And seriously if biggest challenge in a dungeon is to not fall asleep, its something wrong... And about craftable items... i just quote what a 30 years old guy who played wow for 4 years said... -Professions suck. There is no demand for the vast majority of crafted items. The few epics you can craft become obsolete after the first Naxx 10-man run, we no longer even needed those 2 or 3 pieces of resistance gear after the third time we'd been there, and levelling goes so fast it's not even worthwhile to create level 20 or 30 or 40 items. When was the last time any leatherworker actually sold anything other than some armor patch? Raise your hand blacksmiths if you've sold more than one thing over the mast month that you'd expect a blacksmith to be able to make. You know, like a sword or something. Perhaps a nice shiny helmet. Actually sold any potions, flasks or elixers lately for anything more than the price of the raw materials? Didn't think so. At the moment, 440 skill is enough to create all stuff in game. There are no patterns dropping in instances. In short, it all feels not finished. Edited February 17, 2009 by Mamoulian War Sent from my Stone Tablet, using Chisel-a-Talk 2000BC. The thing about Kara was that most of it was a gear check, meaning that if you didn't have your team geared out from lower Kara (everything below Curator) you wouldn't be able to progress upwards. Also Prince could still gib a tank because he had a random chance of firing three shots within a second of each other that combined did more damage than the tank could sustain. Naxx we also had the benefit of the fact that most of the fights are unchanged (I think) from their 40 man variant so all the strats are right there. Crafting is a some of a gun to have to level (which is why I will NEVER EVER level professions again) but at least it has a point, Weapon Skill seems to have no point and you have to level that sucker. alanschu Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I like that raids are more accessible. I will be running my first on Wednesday.
Mamoulian War Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 More accessible raid are totaly fine, what is wrong is the total lack of them... When BC was out there was Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, Magtheridon's Lair, Serpentshrine Cavern, The Tempest Keep ... Now you have Obsidian Sanctum, Naxxramas, Eye of Eternity Lack of dungeons is the problem, not their accessibility Sent from my Stone Tablet, using Chisel-a-Talk 2000BC. alanschu Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I didn't know about all the raid selection. I thought that many of those came in content updates after BC was first released.
Mamoulian War Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 In BC updates they lately added Mount Hyjal, Black Temple, Zul Aman, Sunwell Plateau and some nice content for solo or small group players (Ogrila, Netherwing Magisters Terrace) Sent from my Stone Tablet, using Chisel-a-Talk 2000BC. Hurlshort Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Honestly all this raid and end game talk has got to be a total turn off for Crashgirl. He is looking to play casually for a few hours a week, he's not going to be anywhere near the end game content for a long time.
Maria Caliban Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Honestly all this raid and end game talk has got to be a total turn off for Crashgirl. He is looking to play casually for a few hours a week, he's not going to be anywhere near the end game content for a long time. As we've all given our opinion on where, how, and what he should play, we've moved on. As soon as he comes back and tells us his choice, we'll return to explaining how we are the l33t Wow players, and he should do X, Y, or Z. "When is this out. I can't wait to play it so I can talk at length about how bad it is." - Gorgon.
