Remember that Revan killing Uthar in Kotor 1, well Remember how everyone in the academy attacked you. And if you go to the Rodian Merchant, he will say that the sells are high and people are still fighting.

Uthar Wynn, Malak, and the other Sith lords are the cause. Revan just sort of.... maybe he did cause it. but it was indirectly. an mostly it was the Sith and their evil ways.

once you hit the critical moments you can make many things happen.

But if you don't even know you're at a critical moment and it passes you by then you either wait for another moment, create your own moment, or send events into action without knowing it.
