So, what's best free program to convert FLAC's to MP3's?

I use Foobar 2000 + LAME encoder. Excellent quality and all free. Don't think there are better options. Foobar is also an excellent music player (although somewhat complicated to set up if you want to get into advanced stuff).

(I'm not even sure you actually need to get LAME separately, could be included in Foobar. I happen to have both so I'm not sure)

Thanks, but how can I get this thing to work? I've downloaded both of them but just can't make it work, I should find lame exe but there isn't one. Huh?

Yeah, the lame link was poorly chosen, didn't check it beforehand. Uncompiled version.

Another option is a vbscript I've written that uses command line tools to convert and/or synch your library from FLAC to MP3:

Exact Audio Copy or Foobar, both use LAME so it's basically just a different GUI. I use EAC for ripping and Foobar for converting.

You can just use the Disk Write output in Winamp. It might not do it as well as everything else but it's an option if you don't want the hassle of all these programs.
