Ebola Outbreak

...The mortality rate is 90%

Not always, it depends on as sub-type -the mortality rate ranges from ~40%-~95%-.

If you say so. Even 40% is extreme for most diseases. Plus I can't imagine you'd ever be very well again.

Actually, if you survive, Ebola is a lot less detrimental to your standard of living then, say, Smallpox...

P.S.

If you take the number of reported cases and the number of reported deaths the number is about ~46%, so I would suspect this is an outbreak of something like Ebola Sudan rather then the dreaded Ebola Zaire -with a 90-100% death rate-. From the WHO's Epidemic and Pandemic Alert and Response "As of 11 September 2007, WHO is aware of 372 cases and 166 deaths associated with the ongoing event in the province. Additional samples have been taken for further laboratory analysis."

I do wonder what would happen if someone got it and started sneezing.

Well, Ebola Reston might have been transmissible by air -or by microscopic water droplets within the air-, so you could, in theory, get Ebola from a sneeze... :brows:

How nice if you come back from Africa, and when you've come home to your city on a windy morning you go out on your balcony and suddenly sneeze.

Would be quite scary to put a whole block in quarantine with a sneeze... :brows:

Accept: I don't think you propel enough physical material out in a sneeze to do that.

Nah, probably not, but... what if... :x

 you mean what if you propelled about 1.5 metric tonnes out of your schnozzle every time you sneezed? Your flat would be a mess, let me tell you.

Especially if you had Ebola.
