R600 delayed to Q2 2007

Looks like bad news if you were looking forward to picking up one of these bad boys.

I'm waiting, but it's not really bad news. Just remember how "cool" Vista is and how many DirectX 10 games have launched so far, and you'll understand what I mean..

Besides, I recently bought a trip to Australia for almost $2000.. I need to save up some cash :)

I'm pleased that they decided NOT to duplicate the X1800 fiasco; a delay here isn't going to cause much harm: there are no DirectX10-compatible games yet (though Company of Heroes is apparently about to release a patch), all of ATi's DirectX9c cards are viciously priced to muscle out the nVidia 7900s, and this should mean a more stable release. (Well, I hope so, anyway.)

nVidia must be near to releasing a new model by then, too ... if nothing else, the price of an 8800 will plummet when the 2000 comes out. >_<

Well, I was waiting for the ATI card anyway. If it can come out being more stable and the such more power to them. Oh, Catalyst 7.2 is out as well. :)

Will be interesting to see what the XTX (with 1 GB GDDR4 RAM) can accomplish.

I'm more interested in seeing what happens to Nvidia's prices when these babies get released.

Uh.. I think I'll pass on the XTX!

"ATI Radeon HD 2900 XTX, Doomed from the Start

The less than stellar performance benchmarks are no surprise to board partners and AMD insiders. Two independent ATI board builders told DailyTech that Radeon HD 2900 XTX will not be a part of their initial portfolios. Given the additional memory cost and bulky card footprint, it seems unlikely the XTX will ever see the light of day."

Okay, maybe it won't teach Bok. I've been reading through the comments there. The XT at least still seems to be a good buy and hopefully the 2600 series will smack the 8600 around.

I don't know if ATI is doomed. Doesn't most graphics cards market profit come from more budgety cards?

If by "more budgety" you mean around the middle of the market, between the nosebleed Bok-food down to the integrated stuff, then Yes. ;)
