Dark_Raven Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Hopefully the AI will suck. It wouldn't be fallout if your NPC allies didn't go out of their way to bust a cap in your ass. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ah yes Marcus with the mini gun firing from behind you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know why but I always enjoyed giving Marcus a certain injection from syringe I got in NCR. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I never did that. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

Idiot SMGed me in the back every time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He usually recieved the same thing back in return. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Darque Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 My Ian was broken. He stayed till the end and "never" hit me, even when bursting with a SMG from behind me.
Darque Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 What, studio that made Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth has met its end? NO! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yup, just before the PC release. Shame too, I was really looking forward to CoC: Destiny's End.
Dark_Raven Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 That jerk finished me off once. I was down to a quarter of my hit points and he goes full auto and chunks me. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Darque Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 To be honest I've never had a problem with any character... except... Vic... <_< I usually kill him after every time he kills Sulik while we are in combat.... I've probably killed him over 30 times.
alanschu Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 (edited) I found the NPCs in Fallout to be so frustrating that I typically played the game solo. The only ones I didn't find insanely annoying were the ones that either fired single shot weapons, or were melee (though they'd frequently run in MY way). The funny thing is, if an RPG came out today with NPCs that acted the way they did, it'd be criticized for it. And I'm guessing that if Fallout 3 did it, the Fallout "purists" would be up in arms, despite the fact that it'd be an excellent job of adhering to the flavour of the original. Darque Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Single Shot? If only... I can't count the times Vic has managed to hit me or Sulik with a rifle... which are normally darned accurate. Vic... the only NPC I sometimes kill just for stress relief. Suffice to say... he gets left in Vault City once Cassidy becomes available.
Dark_Raven Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I usually ended up going solo towards the end of the game since the npcs never survived that long. Well except Sulik sometimes, he could. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

I will say this about Fallout though...it was one of the first games where I didn't reload after an NPC died.
Dark_Raven Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I will say this about Fallout though...it was one of the first games where I didn't reload after an NPC died. Me neither. I say that because its hard to sneak around at the end game when you have a party following you around. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Pidesco Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I managed to reach the oil rig with Sulik, Vic, Cassidy and the (lesbian) wife. Inside it was quite a bit harder to keep them alive, especially against Horrigan. A lot of reloading was involved. alanschu Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I never liked Dogmeat. It was particularly annoying when he followed me around because I was wearing a leather jacket.
Sand Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 (edited) Dogmeat was always so much fun. Especially how the dog charged "Lou" just to get split in half by a laser. HA! Then I go "You killed me dog, dog!" And open up my turbo charged plasma rifle and shoot him in the eyes, killing the smeghead with one hit. Then scream at him "DIE MUTHA****" as he dances his death dance. Man, we better get called shots and uber death animations out of Fallout 3. jaguars4ever Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Dogmeat was teh r0xx0r!1 You need Dogmeat and he needs you. RPG dogs in general tend to be totally sweet. Does anyone remember the dog from Arcanum? Seriously, he was an absolute beast - he'd hit like 3 times a round and kill ogres in one turn.
Sand Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 NWN2 needs a Dog companion. Not a familiar or a Ranger/Druid companion, but a real NPC type. alanschu Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Your comment was directed towards called shots and uber death animations. I'd imagine that the death animations have the potential to be infinitely more gruesome, given that my critical hit to the head of someone will not result in me blowing a whole out of the side of their body.
