Hell Kitty Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 (edited) I seriously doubt it's because of gender insecurity that men play males.. ^_^ Of course not but that's not what I'm saying. It not a reason for playing a male, it's a reason one might be unable to play a female, or believe they are unable. And the same is true of female gamers and male characters. A question to the gamers who play both genders, do you play a character who just happens to be the chosen sex, or would or play a character of your own gender differently to your opposite gender, even if the two characters were otherwise identical? It's more of an aesthetic change for the character rather than a real character change.
metadigital Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Both, though mostly female. I agree with metadigital's comments on male being the default. I've always had many more females in my life than males, particularly in meaningful roles, and I'm not so insecure in my gender identity that I feel the need to stick to my own. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I seriously doubt it's because of gender insecurity that men play males.. ^_^ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Latent homosexuality? Musopticon? Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Or the fear of it. I don't actually think I've played female that many times. I've never felt that changing the gender ment much besides having a different personality to romance and a different avatar anatomy. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. Musopticon? Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Ah, but it matters not what your avatar is when you are doing a sweet, sweet lobotomy to a dozen grues. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears.
