Musopticon? Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 I'd kill for Tyranids or the Horus Heresy, but Tau and Necron along with Grey Knights(supposedly Space Marines are more fleshed out in this expansion) will do for the time. I respect the devs for their reason to not butcher the variety and moddability of Tau with the DoW engine. Supposedly they wouldn't d them because the engine couldn't do them justice. Awww , that's real love for your works. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Cantousent Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Damn it! I PMed Gorth about this before I realized it was the RTS game. Grr. I actually don't mind the odd RTS. It's just that I prefer a turn based strategy game. Nartwak Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 More of a WAAAAGH!! chap myself, but if you haven't been made aware of it yet you should enjoy this.
Lucius Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 The Tau, men. The Tau! I for one am all sorts of giddy for this game and I have no doubt that some of you are just as. http://www.gamershell.com/download_15306.shtml <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *hugs Muso* Gonna dl this mofo DENMARK! It appears that I have not yet found a sig to replace the one about me not being banned... interesting.
Calax Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 hey... they balanced Aussalt Termies! the basic tau take em down in no time flat! and it looks like they gave the Marines a midpower melee... the Chaos got another big thing and the orcs got heavy ranged units. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
Calax Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 and the imperial guards get to set up mortars cannons and other "heavy" artillary. It makes up for the fact that imperial guardsmen are garbage unless in large numbers. When I get this game I'm gonna be such a Tau Tech guy it's not even funny. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
Darque Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I'm not familiar with the Tau, what's so special about them?
Llyranor Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Aren't they goody-two-shoes robots who want salvation for one and all, with some sort of ulterior motive that no one can decipher? Or something? (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Gorth Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 The Tau are an unnecessary addon to the WH40K universe in an attempt to cater to the manga/robotech/whatever fans As if the additions of Necrons weren't bad enough They fit in about as well as chocolate sauce to pickled heerings... “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
Darque Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Oh, they're just people in robotsuits? Lame.
Calax Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Oh, they're just people in robotsuits? Lame. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well from the Dark crusade preview, the origional race (tau) are a pack of guys in suits, but they started a coalition to protect and defend the universe from it's ills (kinda like eldar... without the mysterious aspect and the xenophobia...) Anyone can join and get their neato suit. But Dark Crusade also has a second barracks that will create the melee skirmishers that will hold your opponents in place while the main tau force pounds them into playdoh. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
Deraldin Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Tau. That should answer just about any and all questions you people might have.

Truly, you can prune away its brances, or even cut the tree to the ground, but it will grow up again ever the stronger and ever more comely. Yet all awhile the root grows thick and black, gnawing at the bitter soil, drawing its nourishment from the darnkess, and growing ever greater and more deeply entrenched. Such is the nature of heresy, and this is why it is so hard to destroy, for it must be eradicated leaf, branch, trunk and root. It must be exorcised utterly or it will return all the stronger, time and time again, until it is too great to destroy. Then we are doomed.

Calax Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 What caught my attention in the tau article was the description of the Eye of terror and the third sphere expansion campigns... and how these campaigns had an effect on the games story line. For example: The tau were on the other side of the universe from the rest of the fighting so they got a job to increase their military presance and take some territory while the imperial guard and Marines were off fighting. So they attacked imperial worlds and ended up increasing their size by about 133% meanwhile everyone else was fighting to what appeared as a stalemate. But a chaos sorceror ended up trying to get into a webway gate and ultimatly failing but seems to have gotten a few in there. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Lucius Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 While I sorta dislked the Tau in the beginning, due to them not actually fitting into the Wh40k universe same as with the Necrons. However I've begun to like their "for the greater good" ideology... and this is coming from a seasoned Chaos player. DENMARK! It appears that I have not yet found a sig to replace the one about me not being banned... interesting.

They'z all the same size, too - No big'uns or little'uns, so they'z always arguing about who's in charge, 'cos there's no way of telling 'cept for badges an' ooniforms and fings. Annuver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of 'em wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me" or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, 'arf of 'em believe it and da over 'arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. Wot a lot of mukkin about if yer asks me. An' while they'z all argyin' wiw each other over who's da Boss, da Orks can sneak up an' clobber da lot. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears.
