Darque Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Diablo 2 was good. But Blizzard still sucks for killing off Starcraft: Ghost
astr0creep Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 And the rest : Wizardry, Diablo, Elder Scrolls, Might & Magic, Ultima. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What do these games have in common? How do you even dare to put Ultima and Diablo in the same category? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can't you read? They're not D&D. http://entertainmentandbeyond.blogspot.com/
Gabrielle Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 The title of the thread reads RPGs, doesn't say anything about D&D.
astr0creep Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 The title of the thread reads RPGs, doesn't say anything about D&D. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The quote from the OP makes a comparison between D&D based games and others, wether consciously or not. The quoter seems to believe that D&D based games were "Old-School" and the others are "New-School", mainly refering to FPRPGs like ES games. Such a comparison is erronous, as during Baldur's Gate's reign, M&Ms, Wizardry, System Shock, etc were also quite popular. "Old-School" has more to do with technology, interface and gameplay than simple perspective or being skill/stats based. Of course my post was not as detailed as this one since : 1- I was in somewhat of a hurry, being at work and all and 2- I consider people here to be smart enough to read between the lines. My mistake. http://entertainmentandbeyond.blogspot.com/
newtar Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Old?? as someone who played the original D&D box set back in the late 70's at UVA with some of the folks that went on to form Iron Crown Enterprises (no we're really talking old school!)---I beginning to feel more like ancient dragon status---
