But I think the project is sort of doomed from the beginning, because some fans of the originals (be it FO or some other game, or even movies or books) can be pretty rabid. I mean, I can't imagine what Lucas should have done to make *all* the fans like the prequel episodes, or what Obsidian should have done to make *all* the K1 fans like K2. It's just not possible.

It'll be the same with FO3, no doubt.

It might have been easier if Bethesda had just launched a "Fallout - the next generation" or similar ;)

Well, you seem pretty optimistic. Who said *every* fan has to be pleased? If it's a good game then people will buy it: if I like it I'll buy it; others won't.

Perhaps the most interesting comment you make is the reference (unconscious?) to "The Next Generation",

The original Fallout was not named "Wasteland II" though it was a sequel of sorts, and there is a reason for that...

Yes there was. Someone else (EA I think) had the rights. Fallout was originally going to be a GURPS liscence too, till that fell through and they had to invent SPECIAL in a hurry.

I have to agree with Volourn.  Bioware is pretty much dead now.  Deals like this kills development studios.

No Fallout 3 for you.

I have nothing against Bethseda, I just have something against someone making Fallout 3 other that the original creators.

Actually, I'd sort of prefer the original authors to do FO3 as well, but I'm not going to rule out entirely that Bethesda could make a decent FO3...

Speaking of the original authors, would that be Bioware or Obsidian or someone else today?

Unfortunately Betheseda is going to catch teh flack from the fanatics

I think that much is certain - even if FO3 is brilliant...

All 3 of you ;)

All 3 of you ;)

Can't be that strong as it seems the fanatics are ignored by bethesda :p

What can you really do other than yell at them until they ignore you? ;)

Well, would it have been "Wasteland II" even if they had had the rights? I doubt that myself, since they are very different games, but...

Awww... I would actually have preferred it to be GURPS...

I'm indifferent to the rules, as long as they are fun and make sense.

Hit them were it hurts by not buying any of their products.

Bit pointless having the rights if your not going to use them.

I've got nothing against GURPS. SPECIAL turned out well though.

We'll see how well that goes, especially if they make excellent games.

I honestly doubt that would "Hurt" them.

Fallout Fanatic sales would probably equal 1/2 of a %, I doubt they'd worry about it.... if they did they'd be asking for "fan" opinion.

No one in their right mind asks for fan opinions. You would get a whole bunch of replies and little work would get done, if they aimed to please everyone.

Fallout, as we knew it, is dead. Lets just accept that fact and move on.

"I cannot profess to be a theologian; but it seems to me that Christians who believe in a super human Satan have got themselves into a logical impasse with regard to their own religion. For either God can not prevent the mischief of Satan, in which case he is not omnipotent; or else He could do so if he wished, but will not, in which case He is not benevolent. Fortunately, being a pagan witch, I am not called upon to solve this problem."

Too bad there isn't someway to ensure that all of the people writing off the game are unable to acquire it in any way in the event that it kicks ass.

Fallout is dead, it died with FOT. Let's keep it that way, no need for F3.

I seem to recall speaking to this last night. Something about weird hats and long coats?

And shepherds we shall be,

for Thee, my Lord, for Thee.

Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,

that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command.

So we shall flow a river forth unto Thee,

and teeming with souls shall it ever be,

In Nomine Patris, et Fili, et Spiritus Sancti.

Last I checked, there's a FO3 in development. I guess it isn't dead :-

You're thinking of Hades.

This is Gabby. For her, no really does mean no.

I doubt she'd play it even if someone gave it to her and a 20 dollar bill to cover her time.

Yes, everyone needs to accept that fact.

Yes, everyone needs to accept that fact.

I'll need to play it before I accept anything.

Go Go rationality!
