metadigital Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Mark Hamill played a private in the Sam Fuller WWII film called The Big Red One. His character's name was Griff. :D OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
Baley Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Great So what's the point of this thread ? ...do you want to discuss the glory of Hamill's acting?
Reveilled Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Does this mean Mark Hamill is a whole hazelnut? :D Hawk! Eggplant! AWAKEN!
Darth Flatus Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 oh i see, his character's name was griff. A reference to Griff Tannen from Back to Th... no wait.. its a reverse chronological reference to Griff - Mission's brother from KoTOR. That son of a hutt owes me money! if i ever find that blue freak i will cutt of his lekku and stuff them up his poophole!!
Nur Ab Sal Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Yeah we all love Griff. HERMOCRATES: Nur Ab Sal was one such king. He it was, say the wise men of Egypt, who first put men in the colossus, making many freaks of nature at times when the celestial spheres were well aligned. SOCRATES: This I doubt. We are hearing a child's tale.

metadigital Posted May 14, 2005 Author Posted May 14, 2005 So we're just gonna spam the thread till the green guy comes? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No Baley! We are going to post other miscellanea about oblique references to the Star Wars actors and characters in other films and literature. E.g. GL was originally going to give Luke the last name of Starkiller, which I called my K1 character. (I notice someone on these boards knows this because they have taken the name, too.) Anyone else? Darth Launch Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Wasn't the Mandalorian dude that you killed in the final duel on Taris called Bendak Starkiller? I'm sure he was... DL OO-TINI!
Baley Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Yup....he got his ass kicked in the final battle
Darth Flatus Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Jawas in k1 talk about someone/something called Iziz - possibly their god. The main city in onderon is also called Iziz. coincidence? or lack of imagination on obsidian's part?

Oerwinde Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Jawas in k1 talk about someone/something called Iziz - possibly their god. The main city in onderon is also called Iziz. coincidence? or lack of imagination on obsidian's part? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, Onderon was part of the EU before Obsidian put it in KotOR2, and Iziz has always been the capital city of Onderon. And Bioware was the one who put the Iziz reference in KotOR1, so I'd say either coincidence, or lack of imagination on Bioware's part. I'm leaning towards coincidence Also, obscure SW character roles: Carrie Fisher(Leia) played a nun in Charlies Angels 2, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. She also played a hooker on a TV show once called These Old Broads. Billy Dee Williams(Lando) played Harvey Dent in Tim Burton's Batman. James Earl Jones reprised his role in the 2005 direct to video sequel to The Sandlot. The Sandlot by the way is a great movie, see it now. 11XHooah Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 When I saw the title of this thread, I thought we were going to be talking about the Infantry War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. --John Stewart Mill-- "Victory was for those willing to fight and die. Intellectuals could theorize until they sucked their thumbs right off their hands, but in the real world, power still flowed from the barrel of a gun.....you could send in your bleeding-heart do-gooders, you could hold hands and pray and sing hootenanny songs and invoke the great gods CNN and BBC, but the only way to finally open the roads to the big-eyed babies was to show up with more guns." --Black Hawk Down-- MySpace: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendid=44500195
