Volourn
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor..._purchase_offer To me, this would be great if they can Bettman and all the whiney "poor" owners. Then we can get back to actual free comeptition instea do crappy little teams being babysat. Sadly, as the article states, I doubt big time teams like the NYR who actually make a profit will go for it. But, hey, if it can get rid of the loser teams like Calgary and Carolina; I'm all for it. perhaps, instead of the league whining about the 'greedy' players; the fat can be trimmed and it can go down to 20 teams or so. Kor Qel Droma
So does the article mean that the entire league would be owned by one company? I can't see the Leafs giving up their cash cow. Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
Kor Qel Droma
And if the league was to contract, my vote would be to get rid of Dallas first, then even possibly the Islanders or Buffalo. Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
Volourn
Yes. It be own by one company which in retrospect would limit the player's freedom to negotiate for eahc team since,w ell, they'd be negotiating with the same company. Kor Qel Droma
That doesn't really inspire much in the way of competition, does it? Is it just me or does the NHL look like its on its way out... Volourn
"That doesn't really inspire much in the way of competition, does it?" Normally, I'd agree; but in the end hockey is still a sport. Once the player sget on the ice; their compeititve jucies will start to flow and will do their damndest to win. Just because. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250. Kor Qel Droma
I guess I agree, but to me it didn't look like a lot of people were playing their hardest last season. Maybe the league should just fold and start off fresh. Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
Oerwinde
I know Vancouver wouldn't be in this deal. Their sale was just okayed by the league a couple days ago, so I doubt the guy who just bought them will want to sell after going through 3 months of legal crap to get them. And all the Canadian teams except Ottawa are profitable, so I doubt any of them will be going away any time soon. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity. Volourn
In all seriousness, this deal likely has almost no chance to got through. The rich clubs just won't go for it... I only posted it as an interestinga rticle about the idea of having the entire league owned by one group.. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
