What's "Enable Force Software Sound" do? I've seen it so far and didn't touch it. Until now that I still can't play KOTOR2 in my laptop (though i've installed catalyst 4.11 and did disable movies) I begin to think what's it do and if I enable it what will happen?

It's an option for people with older soundcards or onboard sound. If your sound card can do EAX or other hardware accellerated stuff, then leave it alone. But the option is encouraged for many laptops. On my laptop I got a big improvement in Neverwinter Nights by changing to software sound.

If you enable software sound, nothing bad should happen. The worst might be that the game will slow down because the CPU is controlling the sound. But if your sound card/chip doesn't do hardware accelleration, it's already doing that.

It enables the game's internal audio engine and mixes the sounds in software, instead of using your soundcard's hardware buffers.

This should be your last choice, and only be activated if you have severe sound issues or compatibility problems between the game and your sound card.

In most cases, software mixing will only give you basic STEREO output and stress your CPU unnecessarily, since the mixing is done in software.
