Judge Hades Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 So? Its not a CRPG. I am more interested in J.E.'s work in CRPGs than anything else.
funcroc Posted December 27, 2004 Author Posted December 27, 2004 So? I have been interested in none of your opinion and will be forever.
Judge Hades Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 So? Its not like that your opinion matters any more than mine.
Ellester Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Ahhh, feel the love. btw, I'm with Hades, it's not an rpg and will probably suck. Life is like a clam. Years of filtering crap then some bastard cracks you open and scrapes you into its damned mouth, end of story. - Steven Erikson
Llyranor Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Didn't two other Obsidian dudes join Midway to work on that game too? (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Guest Surlent Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 But Visc, does JE do anymore RPGs ? I got the picture he's done with Didn't two other Obsidian dudes join Midway to work on that game too? You mean Tom Hall, John Romero and Warren Spector ? None of them are from Obsidian though.
Kaftan Barlast Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 So? Its not a CRPG. I am more interested in J.E.'s work in CRPGs than anything else. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What kind of game is it? Ive played the old c64 Gauntlet but I dont think theyll just rehash that concept. Judge Hades Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 I am sure that is the case but I liked J.E.'s work in CRPGs. He has a good head on his shoulders for the most part even though grenades aren't melee weapons.

Cantousent Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Probably not my cup of tea, I'm afraid. It's like everything else, if folks manage to pull out the interesting facts and post about them here, I'm far more likely to take a real look at it. Otherwise... well, maybe a magazine will have an interesting article or a friend might discuss it with me. Since I follow development more than my friends, though, that doesn't seem likely. I hope it does well, though. I like to hear about folks succeeding. Judge Hades Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 I am sure it will do fine. Maybe not a blockbuster but enough to warrant its existance.
EnderAndrew Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Tom Hall, John Romero and Warren Spector are all working with Sawyer on a Gauntlet game? Wow.
roguefrog Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Barring Romero, Midway now has too much talent for it's own good. And to think it's all wasted on a mindless gauntlet hack n' slash. The gods must be crazy.
EnderAndrew Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Maybe they'll all work on the newly announced Blitz: Playmakerz next!
kumquatq3 Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 I thought JE made clear awhile back it wasn't a CRPG
Judge Hades Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Doesn't mean he can't work on a CRPG in the future. Common, Midway needs a kickarse Sci fi CRPG with J.E. in the lead. Warren can stop him from making grenades into melee weapons, but It would be so kickarse. :D
roguefrog Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 J.E. Sawyer (Icewind Dale 2, Jefferson, and Van Buren) Dave Maldonado (Fallout 2, PS:T, Icewind Dale 2) Tom Hall (Anachronox) Warren Spector (Ultima Underworlds, System Shock, Deus Ex) They need to rally together and make something supa.
Judge Hades Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Together they could make that one cyberpunk sci fi game that I have always wanted. May their powers combine! (w00t)
mkreku Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 J.E. Sawyer (Icewind Dale 2, Jefferson, and Van Buren)Dave Maldonado (Fallout 2, PS:T, Icewind Dale 2) Tom Hall (Anachronox) Warren Spector (Ultima Underworlds, System Shock, Deus Ex) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Geez, I had no idea they had a line-up like this one, and you even left out Romero from that list! They sure as hell don't lack talent! Warren Spector was one of the most trusted game developers (by me) until he decided to put his name on Deus Ex: Invisible War.. But System Shock and Deus Ex shows he can do tremendous games if he wants. I just hope he hasn't lost his touch. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Judge Hades Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 I know a lot of people was miffed about the change in the ammo system but I have read the reasoning behind it and it was sound. Nanofluidic gel release system for a projectile weapon would operate in the way that it did.

Judge Hades Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 He indeed has an impressive resume. The Wing Commander games are my favorite non-CRPG games of all time.
mkreku Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Wow, I had no idea one of my favourite Commodore 64 games was made by Warren Spector (Space Rogue, a very bugged Elite-type space trading game that totally destroyed the limits of what people thought was possible on a Commodore 64. it had filled-in vector graphics!) but that means I've enjoyed his games for 15 years! By the way, check this out: http://www.mobygames.com/user/sheet/userSheetId,16081/ I had no idea John Romero had a user on Mobygames either Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
