there is a guy on nar shaddaa who says the hawke is his ship....I going light side but i don't want to give him my ship.... i saved right before i talked to him so i can go back if necessary or should i just avoid him?

He dies afterwards, no worries =P You'll see

You can be nice to him all you want and dont have to worry about losing your ship.

You never do lose the ship, tell him to take it and he'll go off to do so, but he will die, I won't say how though

Oddly enough, he never died in my game. He just wandered off and I never saw him again.

Did you fight the red slaver doods on ebon hawk.. Spoiler** he lays in the security room with their boss.

His second appearence is literally a "blink and you miss it" moment. They make a comment about finding someone on the ship, and there's a dead guy on the ground, but the camera doesn't stay on him long, and you can't really make out any details. And once the fight is over, the corpse is gone.
