does it matter really? i think they only approach you without atton in your party, otherwise they probably wont appear and talk to you.

It doesn't matter if Atton is in your party or not,they will still approach you.

If you have high enough influence with him,I would suggest having him there,then talking to him about it.If your influence is high enough you will be able to train him as a Jedi and that will make a fight later on kinda easier.
