Or maybe a space pirate theme. You have ship-to-ship, boarding parties, and you can get parts to upgrade your ship. It might end up being more of a strategy than RP perhaps, but once you build up ships, assign captains from more experienced crews, etc. you still have lots of room for role-play.

Well, Independence War 2 meets a couple of those requirements, it has even a medicore plot written in it. It lacks almost completely rpg elements, but everything other, including REAL space physics, is there. Check that out, or dl demo at least. B)

Has anyone here watched 8mm? That movie with Nicholas Cage? I always thought it would be great to set an rpg story in the real modern day world, where an ordinary fella ( like you and me, in the real world ) would get involved in something that took him/her deeper and deeper into this dark secret world behind the curtains of day-to-day life. Some sort of detective/thriller/horror story. Or just plain adventure. Instead of huge gunfights every corner, you'd get to use cunning, stealth, interaction, investigation, and sometimes kill a bad guy, get into fistfights, run like hell from some psycho. Fights would be really a matter of life and death, something really scary, dirty and dangerous. Like in real life. A story that could actually happen to anyone of us... And it could contain humor, relief, heroism, character improvement, you name it...

But I was mostly thinking about a 3D world, filled with houses where NPC's live, sleep, and eat. It is probably much easier to make houses enterable in isometric games, since lots of those types of games have all enterable houses.

What kinda like Gothic?

Kind of, yeah. But I'd like to see it in modern times or in a Wasteland setting. A huge sprawling city with skyscrapers, street gangs, 7-11's, banks, bars, malls, and so on. I'd love it if it looked somewhat similar to Blade Runner.
