But seriously, learning new powers from NPC's is a great touch ala PS:T. ;)

I guess I missed something but can someone please provide a link to whichever article or thread that mentioned that we had to be taught force powers?

 

I think it was mentioned in one of the magazine articles, I am not sure. But it's all speculation I believe.
