ShinIchiro Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 I don't know writers. What story stuff was she responsible for? I've been indoctrinating some of my friends in the way of Rokugan. One of my friends is just switching over from dragon (I was trying to go dragon for a while...had a pretty good deck lined up too), but he just is starting to try to jump to crane. It was just his birthday, so I went down to my game preserve and bought 5 Hidden City boosters and 3 Reign of Blood boosters. They're the newest ones. We'll split the boosters, me getting 4 he picks, and he gets 4 boosters of his choice.
Darque Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 I'm not saying she's not a nice person I'm just saying I'm unhappy with what she did to L5R
ShinIchiro Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 AHHHHHHHHHHHh what did she do? I have no clue what storyline twist she did? Is she the creator of the bloodspeakers and Iuchiban?
Darque Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Nah, she just took the things that were already there and then "skewed" them Of course I might just be biased, towards Wick and co. I played since like day one, well of the public release, so I got real "comfortable" with that style. It's kinda hard to explain.
ShinIchiro Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Well...the new stuff is pretty cool. Take a look at some of the new cards. Kaneka and Sezaru have gone Pheonix.
EnderAndrew Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 Maho is your friend. You know you want to try it! I won't tell anyone!
Darque Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 I don't even know who those people are My intrest in the CCG kinda died with Spirit War.
ShinIchiro Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Maho is your friend. You know you want to try it! I won't tell anyone! Haha. Oh and btw, Kaneka and Sezaru are Gold edition people. Ok, quick plot summary coming up. I'm not too clear on these parts as this is a bit before I joined in. I joined around Diamond Edition. When Toturi died (he was emperor), there was a power void there. His 4 children contested the throne (If I remember right the one he personally wanted was his illigitimate son). They were Toturi Tsuado="The Sword" She was rather militaristic from what I know. She died at the end of Gold. Hantai Naseru="The Anvil" I think he was courtierish but I really don't know that much. He was the one that won in the end due to a player choosing him after winning a tournament. As a condition of Toturi (the first one) getting the throne from Hantai, his first (or maybe 2nd or 3rd) son was given the Hantai name. It reassures many people who are nostaligic about the old hantai line. Kaneka="The *******" He's illigitamate. Guess what his nickname thing was. I think he was a big fan of the lion. Militaristic. Toturi Sezaru="The Wolf" One of Rokugan's most powerful shugenja. Kaneka and Sezaru joined the Pheonix. Before they were only wind cards. Now they're personalities.
Darque Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 oh! Hey, if you're interested in backstory, the (now dead) Miya Archives have been transplanted to the official site. The History of Rokugan
ShinIchiro Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Wow, you've missed alot. You need to come up to date. It's gotten alot better. And there's even a Ratling clan (nezumi)
EnderAndrew Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 The Bloodspeakers practice forbidden blood magic (Maho) and serve Iuchiban, who has been imprisoned for hundreds of years. Iuchiban is considered as dangeroud and as formidable as Fu Leng himself.
ShinIchiro Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 As Fu Leng? Isn't that a little bit of an exageration? He's more powerful than Diagotsu (especially in his weakened state). Oh, btw, ender when did you stop?
ShinIchiro Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Oh yah. Forgot about that. Anyone remember which Hantai he is? LOL Hantai sounds like Hentai. That's weird.
EnderAndrew Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 I never played the card game much, as I lacked players. So, I only own about 200 cards. I mainly played the PnP game. I wanted to try Clan Wars as well, but again lacked players. Out in California, L5R seemed much more popular. In the midwest, it's all Magic, Pokemon and Warhammer.
ShinIchiro Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Man that sucks... Where I am it's a small but devoted following. I've been forced to resort to converting friends to the L5R ways. Basically, I can beat everyone else combined, but it's still fun. My best friend who introduced me to it moved a while ago so...
EnderAndrew Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 I forced my regular roleplaying group to take a break from Star Wars and White Wolf. I dropped down the L5R first edition book, and they all groaned. "T. J., we know you love Japan, but we don't." After two sessions, they were all hooked, and loved Rokugan. But most of my friends are opposed to card games in general. We look down upon dirty Magic players. Personally, I don't care for Magic, but I enjoyed L5R, and V:TES.
ShinIchiro Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Man, who doesn't love Japan. I'm proud of my little 25% and the fact that I'm descended from Samurai and aristocracy.
EnderAndrew Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 You're partial Japanese? That's quite nifty. I'm Irish, and well, Irish.
Darque Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 I never played the card game much, as I lacked players. So, I only own about 200 cards. I have to admit I have a complete set from Imperial to Time of the Void.... I had always played, but once the PnP game came out... I kinda went all out  I'm glad I never got hooked on any other CCGs
EnderAndrew Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 I looked online at some of the Shadowland cards (like Festering Pit of Fu Leng) and got hooked. I love the Dragon clan in the PnP game, but I didn't care for their cards.
Darque Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 I'd have to say my fav clans in order are Scorpion Phoenix (only for the magic though) Dragon Crab Mantis/Minor Clans Unicorn Lion Crane
EnderAndrew Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 The Scorpion are very interesting plot-wise. I think it takes a good role-player to portray them properly.
