Dieu-Sama Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Hello everyone, After squeezing every drop of pleasure I could have with my Heralds (best class no contest, keep your brillant, strand of favor and wall of draining almost-cheating cheese off me !) I'm currently in the process of rolling every credibly interesting chanter multiclass. Harbringer done, Spiritualist (the real winner of the Ultimate, take THAT, brillant and ... oh wait) done, and now i'm close to finish my current playthrough as a dual pistol devoted/troubadour. So War Caller almost done. For the next playtrough I was thinking about a ghostheart/bellower for maximazing invocation potential with blightheart phrase refresh on every kill (but do I need ranger for that ?) but recently Beoroer sold me on Beserker/skald. I always though this multiclass was complete garbage s*** because Konstantin but I realize a Watcher with proper abilities score might work much better than Konstantin. The main problem is Spirit Tornado AND the fact I DON'T want to mess with my game with community patches and whatnot. SO ... how difficult is fixing the Spirit Tornado not triggering staggered on every attack like Spirit Frenzy myself ? Thanks !
Boeroer Posted September 8 Posted September 8 (edited) Well - just don't pick Spirit Tornado and stick with Spirit Frenzy I'd say. Spares you one ability point you can use for someting else. Easy fix. I have four Warcaller variants I really like: - Berserker/Skald with Blightheart. Using Her Revenge mostly to kill skeletons + enemies and gain phrases etc. Blood Storm here instead of Spirit Frenzy. - Furyshaper/Troubadour with Ngati's Tusk (max survival + Lord of the Hunt) and Willbreaker. Singing The Long Night's Rest + some other offensive phrase. Spirit Frenzy. Combine with fear ward. - Berserker/Beckoner (or Skald or Troubadour) with Amra. Killing own skeletons with Carnage + Amra and get healed from pets like Socrates while triggering Bloodlust/Blood Thirst. Crits on skeletons can produce a phrase. Using Blood Storm here because it doesn't end (with enough skeletons). - Berserker (or Mage Slayer)/Skald with Saru-Sichr. The Morning Star does two hit rolls per attack and both can give a phrase. Both will apply a stack of spell disruption if Mage Slayer. That means two attacks will usually shut down a caster completely. Spirit Frenzy. I think overall the guy with Ngati's Tusk is the most useful. The debuffing on the fly while being able to do something else means excellent action economy - especially once you get Ngati's Tusk (which is late though - I sometimes use an exported char with the weapon to get it early, which is expensive). Or at least, is there any community patch that let you choose what want to modify (and no "basic patch" version doesn't count) ? 1
Elric Galad Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Download Balance Polishing Mod, install it normally, then delete all "gamedata" files except "cl.barbarian.spirit_tornado_non_weapon_bugfix" (the instruction on the mod page explain how to install and what to delete) Deadfire Balance Polishing Mod at Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com) 2

I didn't get that you were willing to fix the issue on a "coding" level. I only though about in-game solutions. As @Elric Galad wrote: it's rel. easy to remove stuff you don't need or want from a mod. There are other ways to achieve this, but I think Elric's suggestion is by far the easiest and risk-free way to achieve what you want. Installing a mod does NOT alter or mess with your game files. It just adds additonal files that the game can look into and use to "override" its normal values and settings. If you "install" a mod you basically just copy a bunch of files into a folder (conveniently named "override"). So using a mod (and then removing stuff from it you don't need) will not influence your installation. If in doubt you can always just delete the whole contents of the override folder and all modding will be gone. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Dieu-Sama Posted September 14 Author Posted September 14 Meh, I went cantor fists + palm nalpazca/skald instead, having a blast so far. I tried howler first with classic setup (zerker skald Saru-Sichr) and and ... it's boring. Actually I gave up a few fights after getting Saru-Sichr. The 2 handed nature of morningstar killed it. Even with 20+ Dex, Miscreant Leathers and lower armor penalty pet, 2 handed just don't worth it methink, it's just so painfully slow and weak compared to 2 weapons style. Obsidian really dropped it with weapon balance. And getting to brute force seems 1 : late, so late 2 : a kid plaster on a freshly bloody stump to make a 2 handed weapon just viable (like all the necessary metagaming around Whispers of the endless path ...) I might try again, but forget all the morningstar metagaming *yawn*, I think i'll go double flails or clubs or club and flail to "carnage debuff" everyone (since carnge is useless for damage now ...) and go ham with her revenge/the killer froze, no ?
Boeroer Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Carnage doesn't transport debuffs from weapons. In Deadfire it is implemented like a spell. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Dieu-Sama Posted September 15 Author Posted September 15 So it's even worse than expected Such a fall from PoE ... glorious self-fireball with forgemaster gloves/Royal Company Belt, critting for 70+ dmg around me at level 16 ... I'll stick with Modwyr and something else with a lash then ...
Boeroer Posted September 15 Posted September 15 (edited) Howler is usually not really about weapon DPS. On PotD difficulty I find it a lot more valuable that a Howler can debuff defenses "on the fly" with a weapon that has a great debuffing modal, Spirit Frenzy, Ben Fidel's Neck and Chants - and then combine that with great CC such as Killers Froze Stiff etc. The action economy is pretty great that way. And it deals reasonably good weapon damage, too. If you are searching for a Howler that deals potentially very high weapon DPS you could try Berserker/Beckoner or -Troubadour with Amra and max MIG and INT. He will kill his own skeletons with Carnage - which will trigger all on-kill effects for him. Else something like Berserker/Streetfighter with Pukestabber/Lover's Embrace or Stalker's Patience/Mohora Tanga is more destined for great weapon dps.
