Quality of Life Wish List Items - Post 1.0 Launch

Recommended Posts

While the 1.0 launch and update brought so many good additions and changes to the world of Grounded, there are still several quality of life improvements and significant bugs that need to be addressed.

Quality of Life Improvements

  • Inventory Sort Funcitons - please, let us sort inventory with different filters such as type, rarity, etc., and to pin items in place
  • Hot Pouch items shouldn't take up Back Pack inventory space (treat them like armor)
  • Broken Armor should stay equipped (but lose the protection until repaired or swapped) and not moved to inventory or worse, dropped randomly on the ground if inventory is full (as this happens in combat it is easy to lose)
  • Contextual based Throwing/Hucking - not all items should be throwable, and those that should it should be mapped to an alternate attack/action button, i.e. when holding a pebble, LT drops and RT throws...not RB throws for everything
  • Add vertical half wall options and more building pieces to connect/clip with rounded walls and mushroom arch
  • On Xbox, change LB funciton to Tap LB quick cycles through Hot Pouch, and Hold LB opens Radial.

Bugs

  • Getting webbed by Orb Weaver converts you to 3rd person view from 1st person, and cannot be reset without either reloading the game or going into the executable controls to change the view
  • game stuttering while sprinting, and input delay when picking items up/interacting with objects in multiplayer on Xbox
  • Occasional game crashes in multiplayer games
  • new visual bug similar to screen tear/artifacting occurs in the top right of the screen displaying random flashing red and green pixelation (on Xbox Series X, tested with 2 differetn consoles) while sprinting
  • audio bug where a repeating beat triggers and continues to play, build until game is reloaded

I'm sure there are more that would be beneficial, or needs to be addressed, but these are the most important that come to mind first in my opinion.

Thank you Dev Team!

Great list,  Knight!  I'd add:

1. fix the weevil meat piling up across the yard....especially round mushroom clusters. Ants are attacking invisible weevils and melting into buildings/ground/rocks etc. in order to get at them. Let's give the weevil a break, shall we? The entire yards is hunting them. A little more speed and health couldn't hurt? And make the ants actually eat what they kill, not show the animation then leave meat behind anyway.  If grass stems fade away in a couple of days, we can do this for our grumpy little friends' remains as well. Just a thought.🙄

2. Add more Manual Save Slots (ten is not enough) Game is just too large to accomplish anything without a timely save to back up our progress. Please consider increasing the number.

3. We need a charm/trinket bag....not using up all our inventory space. Or at least have it's own equip space so we can also use our tuffs. (Oops! Forgot to exchange it again!) R.I.P.

4. The new Fridge should be available late mid-game when players really need and can appreciate it, not at the end of the game when we're almost done.  (Looks cool.....by the way.) 👍

5. Sap for Clover Roof Parts? Ah....the pain! Out of sap once again! And not enough room in inventory to carry it around with me.  Please roll this back to just clover and weed stems.

6. The Mutation for poison resistance keeps resetting itself every time I slay poor George. Or Fred. Or Stanley.  Started the new update (release) with three. Then down to one. Then up to three again. Then....I don't know what to expect the next time around, but.....help? Please.

That's all I can thing of....for now. 😉 Thanks Dev Team! You've probably already working on some of this as I type. Appreciate all your hard work.

Both are Great Lists , so I'll just add a couple.

Quality of Life Improvements

  • At this point the Hot Pouch Items on the main HUD should have an option to toggle on and off. On Xbox there is really no point it's just for looks. However,
If OP's suggestion is emplmented with " Tap LB on xbox " to Cycling thru the Hot Pouch, add the option to show what your switiching to "POP UP" if we can also toggle the Hot puch UI off.
  • Inventory Pin, Add an option to pin items in the inventory. Really like to keep what items I always have with me in a certin order, OR at least on death it reverts to the playes last configuration when picked up. (Backpack)
  • Arrows. a slot for arrow type on the side like the armor would be great. This would allow LT - On xbox to have a proper aim function with the bow. ( Early game arrows don't deal enough damage btw.)
  • Enemy weakspots would be a nice addition. (Like Horizon forbidden west)

Having a great time with the game. Thank you all for the hard work.

  • 2 weeks later...

Let me add a couple.

  • Hot Pouch needs to have slots 9 and 0 added.  It might not be useful on a controller, but it's very useful on k+m.
  • Craft a parachute out of 3 clover leaves and 2 silk rope.  Make it repairable using one of each resource.  Upgrades/replaces the dandelion.
  • Backpacks should be upgradeable, too.  T2 and T3 add another line of inventory slots.
  • Trinkets should appear in a 'Trophy Case' as they are found and unlocked.  This way all players can pick which one they want to use and they can't get lost.
  • Swapping to a 2H weapon after using weapon and shield and having a full inventory.  ....UGH.  This needs to be fixed.  Suggest making the hot pouch the weapons pouch with weapons and shields returning there instead of into the backpack.
  • Canteens shouldn't have to be in hand to drink.  They can be used directly from the inventory screen.  Allow a key to simply drink as long as the canteen has drops in it.
  • Change the charcoal canteen to 8 drops, double what the T2 Canteen + holds.
  • A compass.  My kingdom for a compass.
  • Depth of Field.  Measurements are in centimeters.  Eyes can see very clearly for distances far beyond that.  Remove DoF blur.  Just because the player is smaller doesn't change the design of the eye and make it more like an animal or insect eye.
  • The firefly helmet is all but useless in combat with it's tunnel vision lighting; it actually makes seeing the mobs more difficult as the light swings wildly with each attack motion.  Moving the firefly light to the top would give the same light radius as a torch.
  • Bonus suggestion new head armor goggles.  Night vision.  Moths, as well as some bees, have excellent night vision. *hint, hint*
  • Thanks 1

Another small QoL request...

Please adjust the recipe for the zipline base to only need 5 weed stems instead of 6.

Wth the 4 legs and crossbar, 5 stems makes more sense then 6. Especially given that when you need to carry the stems to place the zipline base, in most situations you're only able to carry the max of 5 at a time (unless wearing the Red Ant armor, but that is usually only in specific instances and not general exploration), so to get a base on any elevated terrain is a hassle.

Thank you.
