DariusGalaxyz Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 I know this is a game where you are miniaturized to the size of the bugs, but some of the insects are just way too huge. It usually takes alot to scare me, but I'm having alot of jumpscares in grounded, namely the spiders, even with Arachniphobia turned on, they're so big and they react so quickly and violently that it jumpscares me every time, even when I know it's coming. Even the Larvae are like double the size of the player character. The Bombardier Beetles could be a little smaller too. I don't expect these insects to shrink to the size of RL bugs compared to the person, but every insect doesn't need to be so super huge. Ladybugs don't bother me in the game since they aren't aggressive, and aren't scarey during battling either, but still though, RL ladybugs are smaller than most small spiders, so why do they have to be like the hugest bug in Grounded? I wanna be able to enjoy this game more, but there's too many jumpscares. Like could we get a option slider where you can manually adjust the size of the creatures, whether individual creatures or the entire bug cataloge, be able to adjust the size up and down. Obviously the bugs are still gonna be big, just not like double, triple, or more the size of the player. The music changes so dramatically and violently that that sometimes scares me more than the huge size of the bugs. Maybe we could also get audio sliders for each individual insect type, like spider sounds, ant sounds, etc.
ScritchOwl Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Be glad we are not playing with Arkansas sized wolf spiders and mosquitos. Our wolf spiders are bigger than quarters and mosquitos that would cover a dime..........given we have a coin in-game that would mean these guys are about 1/4 the size. Shieldbugs are the right size compared to lady bugs If you see light at the end of the tunnel get out of the road!
SnickerSnack Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 Sorry you are having trouble Darius. I have to disagree though. I have found myself noticing insects in the backyard a lot more since I started playing Grounded, and the developers have gotten the sizes pretty accurate. I saw a large wolf spider yesterday that makes the ones in Grounded look small by comparison. I also found a Larva that was larger than the ones you fight in Grounded. If you are having that much trouble with the anxiety created by the insects, this may not be the right game for you. I think the devs already did a solid by giving players arachnophobia mode, but they can't eliminate all of the thrills that most players enjoy.

Noted, lol, but there's also the sharp music changes that I feel don't need to be so sharp and jumpscarey. And maybe we could get the option of an icon appearing over the insect when they're starting to feel threatened or what not. And also, like I said, it's like the spider is already jumping without warning, that's what's jumpscarey for me about it. It's not like they even have a 1-second animation to show that they're noticing you and then starting to chase after you, it's more like instantaneous.
