Hey. I just finished my playthrough of PoE 1 as Barbarian, and that's was little painful. In DnD Barbarian have possibility to survive any damage, while Rage is active, but in PoE you get a huge Deflection reduction, which hurt your survivability. So, in Deadfire, i was planned to multiclass to get some defence. Which class do you recomended? Fighter Devoted looks interesting, the bonuses to weapon type are cool, Vigorous Defence, Stances, Self-heal also seems to be nice. But i also interested in Steel Garrote Paladin, which can lifesteal HP from enemies. Note, that i not looking for tank-barb, but something like "Durable DPS" which can survive most of damage, but can not replace a pure Tank. Also, i'm not interested in multiclass with casters, and i prefer two-handed weapon.
P.s. Sorry for the bad english, it is not my native language.

Both Barbarian/Fighter as well as Barbarian/Paladin fit your needs.

Besides Steel Garrote you can also pick Kind Wayfarer. The heal of White Flames also will affect you.

Consider using a Morningstar to use its modal to debuff Fortitude and take advantage of Brute Force. Good synergy with fighter Mule Kick and Clear Out.

For a little more DPS - but less durability, you could go with Trickster rogue. His illusion buffs provide decent boost to Defences (Repulsive Visage even Terrifies nearby enemies).

Of note, you can also get this particular effect in a potion if you want to use another half class. To be clear I agree that Trickster has a lot to bring to the table, but this powerful spell in particular comes in bottle format if you want to go with a more durable setup AND have a repulsive visage :). You probably won't spam it as often - but should be synergistic in all kinds of ways with Steel Garrote and Morningstar modal.
