Yosharian Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 There is nothing to be dealt with. I understand you had nothing to contribute, which is fine, I often don't either. But when I don't, I remain quiet. I was looking for a discussion, not noxious bursts of umbrage, as they have no value. There is no discussion to be had. You're whining about difficulty when playing on one that isn't the hardest. Instead of restarting the game on POTD, like a normal person would, you come to cry on the forums. It's pointless. xzar_monty Posted October 27, 2018 Author Posted October 27, 2018 (edited) That's the problem for you, you see. I was not whining, nor crying. It's you who has difficulties with reading comprehension, and attitude. But no more comments from me on this for you. Username Tigranes, for instance, addressed the question very well early on in his own reply. Edited October 27, 2018 by xzar_monty
xzar_monty Posted October 27, 2018 Author Posted October 27, 2018 I don't know... maybe my GPU is way too slow now. On the other hand: Pathfinder: Kingmaker runs really smooth (apart from the loading times), and it looks good enough, especially the spell effects... and both games use unity, so it seems possible... The lack of (apparent) logic with these things is really strange. The times when I was computer savvy are long gone, so these days I'm just puzzled. You see, I have very few problems with Deadfire (the notable exception being that the inventory screen slows down whenever I pick up an item, and carrying it around on the screen has a noticeable lag). But Pathfinder: Kingmaker is significantly slower for me. Have you played around with the graphics settings? Do they seem to have an effect?
frogmoth Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 (edited) Have you played around with the graphics settings? Do they seem to have an effect? Not really, i even followed the little guide to optimize the settings for NVIDIA cards. But there are people complaining even with far better cards than mine (mine is really slow by the standards of today). At the moment i have to put all the settings on low in some encounters and even this often barely helps to provide a smooth experience. As i said: it mostly seem to stem from some spell effects (wall of fire, insect swarm) and the enormous number of enemies on PotD sometimes doesn't help either. (One encounter in the old city was especially annoying in that regard.) Edited October 27, 2018 by frogmoth
xzar_monty Posted October 27, 2018 Author Posted October 27, 2018 Ok. I think it's strange that we have the opposite phenomenon going on: you struggle with Deadfire, and I with P:K. That's why I said the logic is difficult to grasp (and yes, I know, it has to do with what kind of card you have and so on). Incidentally, my card is also slow by today's standards.
frogmoth Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 I don't know if i'm allowed to say this on this forum, but i'm somehow glad its PoE II and not P:K. I already know which game i will replay more, although i like both games...
Hulk'O'Saurus Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 ^ I haven't even touched Pathfinder. I will wait for **** ton of patches before even considering opening up that game x). I really don't know anything about it, and I'd rather keep it that way. Maybe next year's January I will buy it...

I have played the Prologue or whatever it's called. I understand what you mean, and I'm not going to start it properly either for a couple of months. I am not going to replay either, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to be happy with Deadfire, and once P:K is fixed, it should be a great game. No certainty on that, though. Hulk'O'Saurus Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 I can always happily recommend Underrail to everybody in here... should you want to wait for either Deadfire or Pathfinder to become better. 1
bringingyouthefuture Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 Just opened P:K as I await for a hotfix for Dual Wielding, I mean graphically they are like Apples and Oranges ... Kingmaker doesn't have nearly the polish and stuff going on - I am still trying to get over the fact that my arrows go across the whole screen when I miss with them - do you know can you turn that off in PK? I am not running a 2080i nor do I have dual graphics cards linked, but I have a moderately high-end card and haven't had many issues especially lately. Wondering which cards are having the problem, I run an EVGA, maybe it is a brand thing? Off-topic the new i9 processors look amazing, combine that with a USB 3.1 motherboard, and ... ugh I want to build a new computer!!!! “How do you 'accidentally' kill a nobleman in his own mansion?" "With a knife in the chest. Or, rather, a pair of knives in the chest...” The Final Empire, Mistborn Trilogy

Yeah, Underrail is great. But god is it frustrating sometimes. (How are these invisible scorpion like creatures called again?)

With the risk of completely derailing the topic of this thread, they're called Death Stalkers and Death Crawlers and I call them Scorpion Spiders. When you kill your first one, you're officially initiated into the game. I love them, by the way! PS:*random banter concerning the thread so as to appease the Moderator God.* Edited October 27, 2018 by Hulk'O'Saurus
xzar_monty Posted October 27, 2018 Author Posted October 27, 2018 I'd never even heard of Underrail. Thanks for the tip, appreciate it. Will see what it's like, not sure about purchasing, but will definitely check it out.
