new patch, broken override stringtables?

Recommended Posts

since installing the new beta patch, the override stringtables i had beak the game(cant conitnue/load, lot of strings missing)

is there a fix to this? to stringtables need a new folder structure? i checked the modding patch notes but saw nothing that could help

edit: made an attempt by copying the mod stringtables's lines into a copy of the regular tables and putting those into the override folder(with the usual folder structure:override>localized>en>text>game) and still no success

edit: seems like a lot more than just stringtables were broken, most of my mods if not all of my mods seem to not work anymore :^/

Imho a sort of warning should be pinned somewhere about that.

Usually I prefer don't apply the beta patches and I wait the official patches release, and this is the case, but whatever what you stated could happen if you patch the game with the override folder full of mods. The patch scramble the mods in override folder

Proper way to apply a patch is move the override folder in a temporary folder before patching the game and after you've patched the game move it back in PillarsOfEternityII_Data.

But in your case the override folder should be already broken, then my advice is:

  • Take note of the mods you had
  • Delete your buggy override folder
  • Download again the mods from nexus
  • Restart the game
  • Rearrange mods order
  • Exit to desktop
  • Restart the game

shame, i'll try ur suggestion and see if it fixes the custom subclass mods im using, if it doesnt guess i'll just have to wait for them to be updated or revert back from beta

i managed to fix my stringtables after some tinkering tho, so theres that at least

I never like using the beta

This time - maybe when I hit the sack

I can check every single stringtable with ease and compare them (take hours)

OK Fair warning has been applied

I'm gonna move the domain to https://perspak.com early Feb but will keep all content

There are reasons behind this move which basically boil down to unifying my release schedule

My friends are welcome to play (I'll set you up your own areas if you desire them)

Please note that this process is messy so may take a few weeks

Come to think of it can you give me the a link to Nexus for the mod?

The ideal solution is to ZIP up you entire override directory and send it to me - I rebuild override all the time...

Sometimes a savegame is also required

OK,

I run on minimal mods all the time and in 2.1.0.beta I can't get it to fail

SOME Mods are, these days, screwed

The only way to diagnose this issue is override + poss savegame

I just tried every broken mod I know - no issues

i run way too many, seems like the main broken ones are just the 2 custom subclass mods i have tho

https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/207 (lots of ranger changes + new subclass) and https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/98 (cipher subclass)

The ranger one is mine. All mods which add new subclasses are broken with 2.1b.

New subclass entries are not being recognized. This seems to be the issue.

I've posted in the beta notes thread.

Edit: I would suggest reverting back to 2.01 in order to continue your gameplay progress.

Wait til 2.1.0 releases - I know this is a fairly useless suggestion

It's been noticed by our members (Slack - you're a member) that the beta has issues

I use the main branch almost always as switching branches takes considerable time

We DO know there are changes in structure so I'm guessing that's the issue

It's bloody annoying when they make releases not backwards compatible but it appears that the beta has hit you

Do you guys think that the Steam Workshop support (At least for the Steam users) will help with your modding efforts in the future? From my experience it seems a lot easier to add updates/fix compatibility problems between patches using that service, at least for modders in Divinity: Original Sin 2. Granted, that game also might just be easier to mod for.

Some of our members have specifically excluded Steam Workshop in their T+Cs owing to concerns over retaining control of their work

Some of our members are also VERY anti-commercialism

We take their feelings very seriously

While we may suggest things if our team votes an idea down it never gets looked at again

Individual members are welcome to release wherever they like (usually Nexus)

The whole point of our group is supporting the membership.

We work together, helping each other out - for example Extended UI - read the credit list... Almost everyone in there is in our group!

We have members who will never release their own Mods, they just wanna help out with translations (which actually means that our group provides better native translations than Obsidian do!) - the only languages we don't have covered yet are Spanish and French (Korean + Chinese - no problem)

We, as a community, believe that helping each other is good for the modding community

Personally I'm writing support websites (not written a Mod in MONTHS!)

So,

If you wanna join us simply visit our Invite page
If you require a Mod you think is a cool idea then visit our Mod Request page

ahh so its more an issue on the patch's changes messing with all subclass mods, gotcha, guess we'll have to wait for new beta updates or for the patch to come out of beta with new changes that address this
