For a rogue with only ranged weapons the cone is good because he can't engage and therefore not use Persistent Distraction.

This might ensure Sneak Attack/Deathblows which is better than +20% dmg at short range.

Because you are using a monk/rogue, right?

Yeah ranged monk/ trickster with hand mortar

Yes, as a monk/rogue you can use the following weapons to apply afflictions in an AoE:

- any rod with Blast (Blast also helps proccing special on hit effects)

- Fire in the Hole (blunderbuss-mortar like Hand Mortar, also has build-in Driving Flight as an enchantment)

- Three Bells Through (that's a very long AoE "line" though)

- Whispers of the Endless Paths (in a cone)

- Wahai Poraga (max 4 enemies get hit)

- Minor Blights (from scroll)

awesome thanks

Its looking like Fire in the hole is going to help big time, do you get this gun from completing serefans quest? Do you need serafen to get the gun?

Is it the quest where you go get revenge on that pirate for attacking you in the start of the game?

edit

also can you apply afflictions with watershapers focus? or is that just DOT damage eg deep wounds and the rogues DOT afflictions?

You can get Fire in the Hole:

once you complete Serafen's quest. You have to take him with you to Fort Deadflight, then Neketaka (into the Luminous Bathhouse) and then to Sakuya where you will meet his old friend, talk and get the gun. This all does not involve any mandatory fighting as far as I remember and can be done quite quickly.

Watershaper's Focus is a rod - so you can use it like any other rod with Blast to apply afflictions and everything else in an AoE that works on hit (Deep Wounds etc.).

It has a build-in jump (like Driving Flight but better) so it already applies afflcitions 'n stuff to two targets even without Blast. It does two Blasts once you trigger the modal because the initial hit will cause a Blast and the jump does as well. So you can cover a bigger AoE with the jump and also have two chances to apply - in most cases if the enemies stand near each other.

By the way Fire in the Hole's jump does the same: two explosions with one shot.

I also think this should go into the char build forum because it's full of spoilers now. :)
