'Umm.. I'm kinda sorry I robbed your town's shops blind, murdered some nobles and their guards.. I.. had a lot going on at the time and my vision was clouded.. Will 2,000 gold make up for my errors ..? They will ?! Oh ..! We're good then ?! Oh, thank you City of xxxx, I'll be your hero from now on !!!'

A curse/blessing that makes the PC unique is an Obsidian thing. They had it in KOTOR 2, they had it in MotB and arguably even NWN2 OC, and they riffed off it in South Park. I suspect strongly that the Watcher thing is very much in the same vein. I don't think it's going to be an organization, 'cuz that's more of a BioWare thing.
So yeah, the PC becomes the Watcher through some event beyond his or her control, which confers both major benefits and major drawbacks.
The Watcher.. I like it !!

I would like to hope that being Lv 9 with medium Tier gear or Lv 12 with best Gear won't make that much of a difference in the endgame encounters. If it does, then I am hoping for some difficulty scaling like adding more mobs/spellcasters.
All I'm interested is the endgame. I'd hate to have disappointing fights during that time in the game.
As for 'chapter gates' & controlled area access, I hope they don't exist. However, judging from developer feedback all these years, I am certain they too do not want that kind of game.

I have a thing for redheads, and Red Sonja (current avatar) would be a nice choice for a female, but I want my protagonist to be male for PoE. I will probably choose one of the portraits available at character creation, as I too love the artwork we are shown so far.
(well, as long as the males don't look like lunatics as in BG1-2 )
Yeah to be honest the male portraits in BG1-2 sucked. I used custom portraits because it was either that or be forced to stare at a portrait I just plain didn't like the whole game.
Well, to be honest, my very first playthrough I did choose the noble male warrior in plate armor
However many of the other guys were really funny to look at! They were something like joke-portraits

It's not objectively "good for aesthetics."
You know you can literally stop time with the spacebar in these games, right? Apparently not. Being able to stop time is a pretty remarkable feat even if its effects are limited to allowing thought processes on the part of the time-stopper.
Just mash the spacebar and you've got your precious slow-mo dynamic decapitation/blood fountain.
RAAAW -game paused- WWWWWRRRR *sluu -game paused- uushhh* -game paused- (thumb)

What we are shown so far, graphics & music is AAA quality. You people have done spectacular work !! And unlike anything we've ever seen before.
I've got to admit I never excepted the game to look so, so wonderful
Congratulations Obsidian! The future of computer RPGs belongs to you !

Rogues are soooo going to rock.

It's possible to set up ambushes in PoE by sneaking up on enemies (and rogues still get their Sneak Atk bonus when an enemy is affected by 1 of various Status Effects, as it was mentioned above).
However, if whole party 'sneaks', your detection level is based by the worst teammate.
I would be more interested in sending my rogue(s) ambush a group of enemies, then disengage and luring them to where the rest of the party is hiding; maybe enabling the party to perform a surprise attack as well.
But we'll have to test those strategies in actual combat to see how it goes.

I'm hoping PoE goes that route instead of how Dragon Age 1 does it.... where a boss is a BOSS, with a big cinematic introduction and a giant orange health bar to advertise the fact this this enemy is a super-special-BOSS and therefore, get ready for a specifically designed 10 minute battle of attrition.
BBB, The BIG, BAD, Boss
like Fallout 2, Frank Horrigan

Human and/or Elf.
I always prefer my main to be of the 'pretty-to-the-eyes' races.

Detailed vs Brief Combat Information:
'Goblin has received a bludgeoning critical hit for xx stamina, leaving it gasping for air due to the forceful blow.'
or
'Goblin has received a bludgeoning critical hit for xx stamina, leaving it disoriented due to the concussive blow.'
vs
'Critical hit! Goblin received xx damage. Goblin is stunned.'

No. I'm speaking for actual, existing people who don't care to have MAX this, MAX that.

Concerning 'bad builds' -- not everyone is a power gamer. Many like their protagonist or NPCs to have a wide array of skills suitable for many situations, or they may like their Cleric/Mage to be able to hit hard with a Great Axe.
The fact that the option is given to those people is grand.
It is even greater that PoE is a game with that kind of rule-set.

With that said, what did you create Mr Bryy ?

**COMMONER INTRUSION**
Umm, hello..
Can any of you spoil the item you are creating or you are bound not to do that ?

The Druid guy, I'd take him as a companion. He seems so wise and confident and determined to his cause. That's the kind of people I'd like alongside me, not people with a sheet-load of issues (like freaking Anomen!!)

The backer portraits are excellent, they portray characters with deep personalities.. although the blue guy doesn't strike me much as a barbarian (IF he is one, that is what I read in some forum). I know, barbarians laugh as well, like normal people ( ) and if that portrait actually captures the most of him (an extrovert, loud person) I am OK with it.
And OMG, the Celestial Sapling Inn/Bar is sooooo good- I'd love to have my drinks in such a place !

Yes, they can be completed. In fact, I soloed them during my first playthroughs.
PoE was announced to be able to be completed with 1 guy, but only recently it was said that they cannot be sure whether this will be feasible after all, in particular it was announced that some parts will be very challenging for solo gaming. They also announced that it will not be their focus to test whether or not a solo playthrough is possible. Naturally, some classes will have it worse than others.
What we know is that EXP gained will be more the less party members one has, so playing solo will lv-up your character quite fast.

Difficulty settings are not set to give handicaps (battle-wise). However, besides 'Path of the Damned Mode' (correct me if I am naming it wrong) which is designed to make every single battle a tough challenge, I am not familiar what the difficulty options are..
'Path of the Damned' is said that it will make battles tough not by necessarily making enemies stronger, but by throwing a lot of them at the same time, like potent spellcasters being defended by skilled fighters (instead of simply battling a group of fighters per say). However they compared this mod with Icewind's Dale 2 'Heart of Fury' so it may be that this mod will be for really hardcore fun in PoE.

I don't need inovation.
I just need "Baldur's gate HD".
You can buy Beamdog's Enhanced Edition of the BG games and better forget that you are gonna get something like that with PoE. And thank god for that matter. We are very forgiving to the games of our childhood but this does not mean they are the Holy Grail of video games.
Obsidian respects retro, while enhancing/changing & adding things that should be there.
Innovation or not, there's no point in staying over a definition, PoE will most likely be the Baldur's Gate of modern years, but not Baldur's Gate.

I'll say it again, the sorcerer was a very bad call imo. Better it was reserved for monstrous, non-PC races.
Just another 3rd edition miscalculation. Golden D&D is Ad&D 2nd paired with optional rule-books and/or house rules (imo).
And I'm grateful such a silly thing as the sorcerer is not present in PoE.

Based on recent E3 previews -.-.- Congratulations !
The hype, recognition & anticipation received is well-deserved and all I have to add is how proud I feel that I have backed this project.
From one GM & RPGamer to another, congrats on making the dream come true !
