  1. Nah, still no windowed mode. Still, this has allowed me to get further, even if just a little, than any other fix so maybe someone eles will have more success than me. Thanks anyway!
  2. Still no windowed mode and same crash at Ebon Hawk screen. Anyone know how to access windowed mode???
  3. Right you are Reinoc. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm off to give this a go with baited breath. Actually not too hopeful but here goes...
  4. Ahhh Kanwen, now this is very interesting. I'm one of the unlucky few who have had nothing but the BSOD after trying just about every suggested fix and then some. Until now...I never considered running the game in windowed mode. Now, it still crashes but I do at least get the graphic of the Ebon Hawk interior prior to the crash which is as far as I've ever been in this game! Quick question, windowed mode how? I changed the line fullscreen=1 in swkotor2.ini to fullscreen=0. The game didn't actually go into windowed mode. I set resolution to 800x600 since my desktop is at 1024x768. So, clearly, I'm not doing this right. I'm hoping that if I can get windowed mode to work as it should there is a slim chance of success here.
  5. If you guys had actually read through the forum (only going back a page or two) you'd see that none of this is new news. See original link by AnakinSolo2002... http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=29834 You'll find download links, readme and a disscussion of the contents. Also, the swupdate program supplied with the game seems to be working finally. Or try http://support.lucasarts.com/patches/Kotor2.htm like it says in the updater. Look, I'm sure everyone, including myself, has been guilty of duplicating a thread before but these boards are becoming extremely messy. I'm also going to explode if I see another useless "shouting" post in block capaitals stating ALL PROBLEMS SOLVED !!!! or whatever like they've just discovered the cure for cancer. Just my $0.02 but with so many users reporting serious problems, don't you think we need to get together in a constructive manner on this one?
  6. Hah ! They just put this patch up on the LA server. C'mon you can do better than this pathetic appeasment. Also, has anyone else noticed that the updater included with the game is FUBAR. It requires files that are missing in the actual game install... sw_pc_autopatch.txt and sw_pc_english.txt WTF?
  7. Wish now that I'd bought
  8. We've all been there, tried that. Lucas support probably picked up this useless tip themselves from reading the boards
  9. Yeah Eric, I hear you. Option One - Download from a warez site or whatever. Result, a broken game that wont run. or Option Two - Buy the original. Result, a broken game that wont run and
  10. Eric, this would be very bad indeed but I fear this is all too close to the truth. Anyone tried to contact LA tech support? Anyone had a reply (other than re-directing them to another site/address)? The form is like a feckin' job application and no doubt these get immediately filtered out as spam when it reaches their server. Honestly, I'm more and more convinced this silent treatment is a ruse to stop customers simply throwing in the towel and taking the damn thing back for refund...Oh, I'll just hang on another week and see if a patch comes out, etc. I also phoned my game store today to inquire about the returns time limit. I've got 7 days apparently, but I did learn this game is already being returned there in large numbers.
  11. Here is the readme that comes with the International patch. Note that it's dated the 11th Feb, which was the release date so it's nothing new, although why OE-LA never mentioned it is beyond me... ############################################################## STAR WARS KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II - THE SITH LORDS Update ReadMe Version 1.0a 11-Feb-2005 ############################################################## Thank you for downloading the STAR WARS KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II - THE SITH LORDS Update This update includes the following: Manual pdf ##############################################################
  12. No! Big surprise there then.
  13. Yes, all that this patch does (at stated in the readme) is add the Manual.pdf which was corrupted in the initial release. Hardly something to write home about.
  14. For sure Jalo, not having a go at you. I just find the stonewall silence from devs and pubs a little disheartning.
  15. It's not up to Obsidian. Whether we see a patch or not is all down to Lucas Arts, so I'm not holding my breath on that one.
  16. Gamma, I'll wager this is discussed in the forum also. You should find what you are looking for. The info in the manual comprises only a paltry 1/3 of a page anyway. Sites based on the PnP SW RPG will go into a lot more depth also.
  17. Well Gamma, correct me if I'm wrong but it sure sounds like you're using a pritated copy of the game. No/Yes?
  18. Gamma, the PDF should be a duplicate of the printed manual. Why can't you use this instead?
  19. Hi Gamma, the Manual.pdf is 5KB in size. Unless OE have discovered a miraculous new compression technique I'd say it's yet another bug to add to the long list. Didn't your copy come with a hardcopy of the manual??? How did all of this slip through QA/Beta ?
  20. Immortal, same here. I'm going to give it a week also. Anything longer and generally, getting a refund can become a real chore, due to silly little jobsworths rather than any legal issue. Like I said earlier there are certainly ways to push this but I'd rather just hand the game over and get my money back same day. Hope you (we) can get it working before then but good luck in any case.
  21. I suspect this will be a problem for many of us. One good reason why some of us would like a statement on the patch progress, if any. The clock is ticking and the longer we leave it the more difficult it will be to get a refund. All too common these days for stores to pull this one. Some even have the cheek to say that if the shrinkwrap is broken they wont accept a refund. Naturally, it's a bit difficult to determine if a game will run without having access to the CDs. Don't know where your from Immortal but here in the UK the threat of reporting the store to Trading Standards usually results in a quick turn around in the stance of these f***sters. Stand your ground and don't ask for a refund, demand one. You are entitled to this.
  22. Darth, under most circumstances I'd put money on an early patch fixing such an issue but two things concern me: the silence from devs/pubs and the rumours of KOTOR III coming soon (may just be BS but who knows). LA are well know for ditching patch development the minute a sequel is announced. Recent example being KOTOR 1.03. Now that patch did fix a lot of issues but many went unresolved. Having said that KOTOR, was a unique and spectacular game that I just had to love in spite of the bugs/glitches. If I have to end up going for a refund and missing out on a sequel then so be it. I can alawys catch up on the storyline through the boards :D Wont lose any sleep over it, that's for sure. In fact I'll have plenty of that to catch up on after this weekend's marathon puter tweak fest.
  23. sanskrit, at the risk of getting banned I have to say you really get on my nerves. There's always one fanboy on every forum who likes nothing better than to bash end users at any opportunity in a vain attempt at being promoted to moderator status. I really don't care about any of your lawyer speak either. These are simply folks who are miffed because they just spent
  24. Very doubtful, but it your willing to spare the time, I don't suppose it could hurt. From what I've read those particualr drivers are unstable. So far, I've always stuck with the proprietry ATI set or Omega, who should be releasing the 5.2 modded set in the not too distant future. I've now tried four different drivers with no luck so I'm not very hopeful myself.
  25. Seriously though, Obsidian need to address some of the more important issues VERY SOON or a lot of folks will lose out on their money back if they try to return the game in say a months time. Personally, I've had it already. Spent all day and night yesterdayI and the best part of today installing this and that, unistalling whatever, etc, etc. If a patch comes out that allows me to actually run the game sometime soon, then sure I'll play but Obsidian-LA wont ever get another penny from me. As for saying nasty things, I hope any comments I've made have not been too harsh and contravene forum guidleines but I do think that a great many users are justifiable in feeling ripped off and angry right now. It's not just LA either. Games in general are becoming more and more rushed out of the door. Seems the only way the end user can register their dissapproval in a manner that devs/pubs actually give a s*** about is by boycotting future releases.
