  1. Would anyone or the dev's know if you have to delete all saved games before the patch works, or should we start new games after each patch us downloaded and installed? I have not tried it yet, but would be happy to know what is recommended. Thanks.
  2. I wanted to mention a bug no one seemed to have. When I turn up the brightness in the game and close it out it is fine, but if for some reason the game minimizes to the desktop, or if I turn up the volume up on my laptop, it goes back to being dark and does not seem to remember my brightness setting, but when I go to change the setting is not changed, but the game seems to not recognize the setting. I do have the latest drivers, got the omega drivers to fix the major problems I had just like most people, and I also made the graphic changes my getting into the KOTOR2 file that was posted here, but even still I had this problem even before all these changes. Here are my specs: I am running this game on a acer aspire laptop, 1.50 with 512 of RAM. Got an ATI M 9700 and running this on windows XP professional.
  3. I posted a solution to the Dantooine bug of it lagging here. http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?sh...06&hl=Dantooine
  4. Hey everyone, I was not sure if I should post a new topic, but after I got the game to work on my laptop (which has an ATI RADEON 9700). (the modified omega drivers link that was posted at the Lucas arts web site fixed my issue of the game crashing after each movie). Anyway, I found a fix to fix the lagging on Dantooine. After getting out of the ebon hawk, and after entering most new areas, it was always getting laggy. I found a fix by going and changing the graphics setting, under advanced settings, I just changed something in there, like turning on and off shadows, turning on and off and such, As long as I changed something, anything in there, when I closed it out, it works till the next new area I enter. The problem I had occasionally is it would freeze up while trying to close out and get back to the game, but I just repeated this and it was a temporary fix at least for this weird bug in. This fix also seemed to work when the character would be lagging, or running in circles, or all of a sudden end up on the other side of the area, or end up in a stand still running position with both legs in the air. At times I noticed everyone would be trying to catch up with me when I was on the other side, I almost thought it was a force power Fiddling with the *advance graphics* settings seemed to fix this problem also. I am going to also play this world on my other computer (that has an NVIDIA GFORCE FX) and see if I encounter that problem. Curious to know what kind of graphics cards you all have who are having these kind of problems? Please post and let us know if this works or if this is just another "ATI CARDS" only bug! <_<
  5. I am gonna throw in my 2 cents, I think from what I am reading in some forums like at the lucas arts, the major problems are being fixed with updated drivers, but ONLY with certain ATI cards. With laptops, you cannot go to the manu web site and get drivers for any laptop, you have to go through the manu of the laptop (example of you have a dell, Dell had only certain ones you can use). I've for a laptop with an ATI 9700, and it is a nightmare to play, and from the install it gave trouble (crashes, black screen, lock ups). I also have a desktop with an NVIDIA GFORCE FX, and what do you know on the one with the NVIDIA it runs perfectly, except for a few minor bugs. My guess is Xbox works with NVIDIA I believe, but I do see a common thread though that most of the complaints are from ATI Radeon users, that people have a right to vent about these problems, because they are serious. If the DEV's really care and see that it is not just 1, or 2 or 10 people. they will see there must be problems to be addressed. Also I think it is good people say something, because alot of people think they are the problem, that there is something wrong with their computer. Not everyone is computer savvy and I think we should just allow those who are upset to vent, but of course no one has to be nasty. Sure we get tired of hearing it over and over, but some people are new here and are having these problems now and are upset, and seeing this is a forum you can read that you want and reply to what you want. Personally I find both arguments both helpful, and I have one computer that will crash cuz of the game and one other one that likes KOTOR2 to prove it. My only hope in playing this game on my laptop (which meets all the requirements BTW) is a good patch because I have the latest drivers that I can use for my particular laptop. I do wish the DEV's would talk to us and let us know of the status of a PATCH in the making and when we can expect to have it available for download. I have not heard at all at any forum that a patch is in the making, has anyone else??
  6. know everyone wont agree, I am a little bias because my husband works at Intel and makes the chips, and going into the technical issues of making a chip, I think I would prefer an Intel processor, BUT AMD chips are getting better and better and I think they are very comparable. Intel is coming out with another new cool chip actually. I will say this AMD chips BLOW away Celerons!
  7. I started playing the game on a 2.4 GHz NVIDIA Gforce FX and I had no problems like I had running this game on my 1.5 ATI 9700. I did encounter minor bugs. For example on Peragus, if I stop in a doorway and tried to turn around, I was walking in place, and had to maneuver in circles to get out, it happened in a few places where there were no obstacles and I was not able to move till I toggled around a little to get the character out as if it was sticky. It seems to happen near other walls and such. Not sure if the DEV's want to hear about minor problems, but I am just so thankful I have different graphics cards on different computers otherwise I think I would still be upset that I could not get it to work properly on my computer with an ATI card? I guess as my husband was telling me, ATI is a very good card, but like the AMD of chips. AMD chips are very good chips, but everyone knows INTEL chips makes the best chips (well Celerons needed more work that is for sure!).
  8. I am glad to see I am not the only one with the SAME problems! I have an STI 9700 also and the thing crashes right after (or durring I cannot tell) a video. I did all you mentioned in these posts, and thought my turning everything down would help, but I cannot get past the 2nd video, I just hear music and get a black screen! I thought it was my problem and that since I have a pentium 1.5 and not the reccommended requirements, I knew I had the minimum requirements. I want to play the game SO bad, but it is very frustrating when I have to keep restarting and playing Russian roulette wondering if thie time it will work. I also had the problem with install with havingto kep putting in the 1st disk after each disk and it was annoying. You know what they say "Misery loves company", and I am just So relieved to hear others are having a problem. I playd KOTOR1 on this and never had these problems, it use to minimize to the desktop for me, but all else worked fine. I wish some of the developers would let us know if they are working onthe problem. I heard someone just poopooing us with ATI cards as if we are the cause of the trouble, or the people at ATI. A very good developer with GOOD and qualified staff should have found a way around this graphics card just as they did get around all the other graphic cards esp since they have known about ATI cards giving more trouble than others. Seeing that they had the code already laid out practually since it is almost itendical to KOTOR1, there is no excuse for the kind of major problems us people with ATI cards esp those on laptops. I think those people who insult those with laptops are simply childish, and have never had a laptop. I got several laptops and several PS's and have been update ever since there was hype about the intel MMX chip (remember how COOL it was to play games on that when it first came out, it was top of the line!). So is it working yet? If iall you did never helped, I would ratehr wait, save myself the extra gray hair and see if something else can be done, I mean why put in all the footwork if in the end the game will still not stay stable. (Ps, sorry for typos, no time to check spelling) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
