I had the exact same problem early on in the game (thank god). I wiped the files off my Xbox and started again. So far so good. I think the whole black screen thing happens because of a critical side quest you need to complete. Its almost like the game has no stops that force you to finish up side quests that have a big part in the storyline to come. If you have any open side quest, try finishing them up if possible. Just an idea, dont know if his will help.

Ya, I think thats what fixed it. Once I did that, I was ok and the slowdowns are much less now.

Ok, sounds dumb, but if you get a blank black screen after a load and you keep hitting it, you are missing a step in the game. I had this issue, I would get on the Ebon Hawk, and try to leave mining station, got to a load screen and it would freeze.. I would get a black screen, hear sounds but no picture. Well, once deleting my game and restarting, I realize I had managed to reach the Hawk before solving many of the tasks because I missed a hatch that had opened. I have no idea how I got to the point of leavig the asteroid before completing some of these critical tasks but I did. So if you get an error, at some point in the game were you get a black screen and keep hitting it, you might have missed a critical quest in the game and reply if you want details. Count yourselves lucky. I would love to find out the root of the problems I have been hearing about and the one I am having. I have had no prior XB problems but with this game its crazy. I get onto the Ebon Hawk for the first time, fight in the turret, take down the three sith guys and then it loads and I get a completely black screen. plenty of actions sounds but no picture. I have gone back to prior save points but I always get the freeze in the same place. This glitch seems to be commen place with this game. it just seems to occure at different times for other users. I am sure that the game is have difficulty with slight differences in XB hardware. Or maybe its a batch of bad disks. Either way it really sucks and you will lose it if it ever happens to one of you.

Ok, between this board and the one on LucasArts' site, there are over 100 complaints about this issue. It aint the Xbox, its the game. I am astonished such a big game could be released in sush a poor state. My Xbox has never had a problem and with this game, I get a black screen at some points. No way to avoid it. Crappola!

I second that motion. I have the same issue but it occurs on I get onto the Ebon Hawk for the first time. Very disapointing and I am amazed about how many people are reporting the bugs. Its only been a few days since the release!

Hi All, I have been reading all the bug issues floating around and want to share mine. Its more of the same. I get through the hangar and onto the Ebon Hawk for the first time. I use the turret gun then kill the three sith soldiers. Then it cuts to the load screen, loads half way, loads again and this time the bar goes all the way to end and then I get the BBS ( big black screen). I can here sounds and can make sounds but get no picture. I can pause it and the pause message comes up but thats it. I have tried going back to previous saves points, restarting ETC. Nothing works. Same glitch every time How will this be fixed? From what I have read, getting a new game doesnt really work. My XB is 1 1/2 years old with no previous problems and I have never tried to modify it. Direct question for Obsidian: I chucked my receipt for this game because I never imagined a console game could be DOA. My cd is not scratched. How will all the people with this problem be helped? This is not isolated. I look forward to your response. Thanks
