  1. I'm very confident on kickstarter. I don't play too much like ten years ago, but in 2013 almost all games I've played are kickstarter games:

    - Expeditions Conquistador: A masterpiece in my opinion.

    - Banner Saga Factions (the multiplayer combat game): I enjoyed a lot to play combats against people on the net. I haven't played yet the singleplayer history.

    - Faeria: Nice card game (like Magic) to play on the net.

    - FTL: The reference of rogue-like games

For the future (I backed all those and more):

    - Pillars of Eternity is the Queen

    - Tides of Numenera. If i had knew that it was turnbased, I wouldn't have bought it.

    - Stoneheart

    - The Last Door

    - Legends of Eisenwald

    - RimWorld

    - Sunless Sea

    - Confederate Express

    - RiverCity Ramson: Underground

    LONG LIFE TO KICKSTARTER!!!

You backed the next torment for the combat lol that seems silly. Even the people who love torment say the combat sucks.

  2. I have been very pleased with tell tails episodic adventure games there not perfect but no game is I like being able to finish an episode in a couple hours and that anticipation for the next one it's casual and fun I need casual games to add variety otherwise ill just constantly play dota 2 pwning noobs and my fairy dust and drinking problems get outta line because my pvpnis is strongest like that.

  3. But why shouldn't you get experience using skillful diologe choices. It's not like your effected or have to worry about someone else who likes to role play a negotiator. And if you didn't get exp for it and you wanted to rp a negotiator on an alt play threw and by the time you get to end were under leveled half of you would be back on forums qqing about that. So just relax.

  4. I have two problems with IE/D&D style prebuffing.

In the first case, there are buffs that can be applied before combat that are very general and always useful--haste and stoneskin spring to mind. That is, as people have said, a bit boring and deprives the player of meaningful choice. It becomes something one does by rote, without any conscious thought, not something one pauses to evaluate for strengths and weaknesses.

In the second case, there is instead an array of specific buffs, some of which apply to only a very small number of situations. Nothing wrong with that. But there's no way for the player to know those buffs will be needed until it's too late, for the most part, without metagaming (which I despise having to do). So instead there's a situation wherein the player character would have spent hours gathering information and arraying precautions, because the player character is actively trying to avoid death in the course of doing a highly dangerous job, but the player is just trying to have some fun, and instead the player character dies, the player doesn't have fun, and everyone loses.

Thanks to Josh, it appears we'll be dodging both of those.

But u know if u go into tomb level drain and undead will prob be there meta gaming not required

  5. So how long is each encounter going to be. Because combat only buffs may become useless. Take guild wars 2 for example they made a game that got ride of the trinity heal dps and tank and with there mechanic of dodging there was one build that was the best pure glass cannon because u could dodge 100 % of damage. Making it so if you went as a support char you were hindering your party because your damage wouldn't be good enough making fights last longer requiring more dodges witch if missed would be problematic.

So back to poe were there are no hard counters to things making the game a pure dps race to kill things before there big spells went off. It is a fine line your trying to ride, and if not done right will remove all tactics except pure unadulterated funk, errrr I mean damage.

  6. Buffs and debuffs should be considered one in the same and I am at fault for not including them. In my examples. So maybe you have run out of anti evil spells for the next fight were you will prob fight 2 ghasts a skeleton archer and a necro with level drain silence is a deBUFF that would work. Adding tactical play to the fights. Adding in the necessity to plan and memorize that deBUFF ahead of time.

And I believe I read about a post your issue with taking a party that you want be it all fighters or what not. Devs have stated that you will be able to diversify the builds of said fighters to be different ie one can cast minor healing spells or one can sneak better than the rest, but be prepared to get a lot more potions to make up the difference in not having a wizard or a chanter.

There also aren't rounds in this game so you would would have say 5 minutes after casting a buff.

  7. You are in a party adventuring in the world you should always have some poison potions on a couple people esp your frontline fighters or some invulnerability potions, And maybe some invis on your casters and ranged if attacked from behind. If you get a quest to go into some tombs maybe memorize 2 turn undead spells and some protect evil things. These things are intrinsic for adventuring. Tombs = undead AND the evil casters reanimating them. Without these things having to be thought of the game just becomes a lifeless world were I am god, because no thought had to go into perpetration.

Now with the limited details about the chanter(which is going to be my first hero) it seems like there will be some great ability to change party wide buffs on the fly, but there needs to be some pre buffing going on as well before opening the door into the next room maybe use some armor buffs on fighters going in first or using a sneak buff on your thief about to stealth around a corner to scout ahead a little these things will make a game fun and avoid constant reloads because you thought ahead as opposed to steam rolling it. Without much thought. RPGs are ment to be enjoyed and to require thought. When you get back to a city it's like ok restock arrows potions of all kinds. Its why I play games like this and for my competitive needs I play dota 2 because unlike cod multi were you run in circle and shoot it requires thought.

  8. I'm worried now about buffs after reading Josh's post about one of the game testers. Buffs are and should be very important. In a party based game especially, now I'm very one sided on this because I love playing support type characters, it adds a level of depth to a game when you get a quest and you go out and get ready to delve into that dungeon. Be it with potions or memorizing a different set of spells.

About hard counters: there are hard counters in real life too the plastic on the outside of an electrical plug, hard counter to getting electrocuted. As an adventuring party you should be prepared with anti poison potions or more restorative spells. Not to say that having these things should make fights stupid easy. But if you are alergic to bees and run into a den of level 7 sword bees with out an epi pen then you should die.

I hope I got my points across properly.

  9. All I can say is that you can make a big brawny fighter that wields giant weapons who is dumb as a stump this system isn't going to stop you. But that char won't be "meta" which is a term that I hate. Your playing a rpg all the Roles you Play in this Game might not be optimal for being super god, but with a six man party your going to beat the game. So stop the river of hate

  10. So I'm pretty excited about this game. I havnt backed it yet being I have just found out about it a couple of weeks ago. I read threw all of the updates starting from the first, and I was just curious about the back story of your Heros

My first play threw is going to be a godlike wild Orlan chanter.

He is going to be sarcastic, cunning, full of himself.

He will be driven by wealth and power, and will do some pretty horrible things to get it.

He expects loyalty out of his companions, but doesn't trust them as far as he can throw them.

Now I'm hoping that among the wild orlan's being god like is revered to help give him that arrogance. But if they are shunned I can mold my thinking and still make him arragant.

    Name: oak

  11. I feel that with rtwp and a party this size you pause issue commands wait for execution pause again. Might as well be turn based. This basically leads me to just passive play.

But what I am most excited about is what obsidian said about being able to slow the combat speed which would allow me to key bind everything and with click targets I should not have to pause ever.

Can't wait for that dance across a key board gonna be way more a complex rotation of skills than any mmo or game I've played ever. That's what I am most excited about.

I wrote this on my phone in between seating a at work so don't hate on punctuation and grammar.
