KOTOR II Site - Download Section of Guide
khollar replied to khollar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yeah, it's very good info on the prestige classes, new force powers, new feats, lightsaber forms, force forms, and more! -
Along with a lot of character updates on the main Lucasarts KOTOR II website there's also a printable section from the game guide! Go to the "Gameplay" section and click on "Strategy" It is the Jedi Training Chapter and it talks about the Prestige Classes, etc.

Any idea when the game will hit stores?
-
Somebody posted this in another topic earlier today. Guess we'll have to wait till this afternoon to see if they get it or not. They did not say where they live.
-
I've got it on pre-order at Gamestop. I just called them, and they said it ships today and they will have it tomorrow. I also called EB Games here in town and they said the same thing. So looks like D Murda is right - 6th is shipping date, not in store date. P.S. I live in Fort Worth, TX

Has Anyone Got KOTOR 2 TSL Yet?
khollar replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
What kind of shop is it? When did the shopowner get it? (I'm asking so I can determine if I can find it here in my home town.) -
KOTOR 2 Store Release Dates
khollar replied to Johnny_Tightlips's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If I have already prepaid for it at GameStop, and then go buy it somewhere else tomorrow, will GameStop give me a refund? -
Kreia's voice sounds cool in the video review. And the "scary mask" person appears in a cutscene. Scion is shown in a couple of cutscenes.

The video review was done by Hilary himself. (Confirmation that Hilary is a guy.) He is pretty matter-of-fact in his presentation of the review, but he is that way in the other video reviews he's done that I've seen. No real excitement(except about the philosophical issues), but no real ragging on the game except for the issues he mentions in his written review(frame rates, load times, etc.) He spends most of the review talking about influence, which he likes. He also talks about the prestige classes and how that unlocks new feats/force powers. He does end by saying "Definately a winner. One of the best RPGs you can get on XBox. Certainly get it if you liked the first one." I like the video review because it shows me actual footage from the game, how it functions, and then a few spoilers, which just whets my appetite for more. I e-mailed him to see if he cares if I share this video review. I'll let you know his response.

Hmmm. You could be right. That certainly makes sense.

I'm not familiar with what you're talking about there. I would assume that their content is protected by copyrights. If you have any questions about the video review, I'll be glad to answer them.
-
Video Review Note - I think you have to be an IGN Insider member to be able to get the video review. But I have it on my hard drive . . . (There are spoilers in this video review)

Hilary is a guy. Wonder if he holds a grudge against his parents for that name? )

Things that sounded good: Interesting characters Influence (I liked how they showed you lose influence with Bao-Dur on the video review. I was wondering how that would work.) Deep story I didn't know there was an additional story element besides the Sith chasing you. That sounds cool. Party members you thought were with you all the way could turn on you unexpectedly. Things that sounded bad: That's a bummer. Weak ending Ease of boss battles (I liked that Malaak was hard to beat for me. He should have been, since he was the main villain. Maybe they were easy for the reviewer since he is a professional gamer. Let's hope so.) Things that surprised me: So I guess this means I would have to play it 6 times to fully experience it??!! (3 for Jedi and 3 for Sith = 6 total). I didn't expect that! Wow. And that's from a guy who plays games for a living! Who knows what it will be for a novice gamer like me? Somewhat disappointing. What I got out of the review and that has me excited is that bottom line - if you liked KOTOR (which I do VERY MUCH) then you'll like KOTOR II a lot. For me, the review didn't change how I feel about the game at my core - I know I'm going to enjoy the game, I am dying to play it, and the waiting is about to killl me! No review will change that.

IGN says they will have their review of KOTOR II today, but I checked their site and it is not up yet. Anyone know what time of day they normally put up their reviews?
-
A guy at the IGN message board has the game.
khollar replied to TheAco's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
He answers this question himself. Quoted from his last post: Q: damn how'd you get it? A: From a co-worker at my job. He knows people. So it comes down to who you know!! What a lucky dude! -

Designer Ramblings: Romance

I have been wondering that same thing. I'll bet it's an astronomical number! It would have to be to account for all of the many different permutations. -
Per IGN article "Bao-Dur is a tech specialist and easily the most important handyman on your crew. With a high intelligence and high levels in a number of skills, he is often one of the best picks for the road crew. With ample strength, Bao-Dur can be equipped with a sizable melee weapon and put to task pummeling enemies. When that's done, you can have him hack a computer system to gain access to new areas. He's versatile and volatile. What more do you need from a crewmate? Bao-Dur doesn't have the type of secrets and mysterious shared by many other party members. He knows you from the Mandalorian wars, though not personally, and empathizes with your situation. He is, perhaps, the most reliable confidant and ripe pickings to be dragged to the Dark Side, should you choose that path." I had a feeling this guy was gonna be a great character, and this just confrims that! That's my plan! I was already looking forward to hanging out with him a lot. I knew he was going to be a good melee fighter! He just has that tough-guy look! Which will make for some great arguments/interactions/fights, etc. This surprised me since another bio of him said he has a dark and troubled past. Another feeling I had about him from the moment I saw him! Hmmm. Maybe the force is strong with me. ) Muh, hah, hah! He shall bow down and call me master before the game ends! When I become a Sith Lord, I will take Bao-Dur as my apprentice and we will be invincible!

Designer Ramblings: Romance
khollar replied to Chris Avellone's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The thing that strikes me about all of this is the in-depth gameplay that will result from this. With muitlple romance possibilities (both in your party and perhaps on various planets), the numerous influence possibilities, etc. then what you have is an incredibly complex game that can take you practically anywhere you want, in any direction, with any character. Simply mind blowing! It will make for a very rich, almost life-like experience. And the replayability will not just be about LS/DS or Guard/Sent/Consular choices but it sounds like almost every NPC will have multiple ways to play off them, which practically begs you to play it again to romance the other one instead of her and/or influence the other guy instead of him. Quite amazing! -
That's what I'm counting on! A guy like that, with his past, will have some good stuff to say. Which should come out in the afformentioned great conversations! Looking forward to hooking up with this guy. I hope it's towards the beginning of the game, although it might be more into it as it seems to be awhile before you make your lightsaber and he helps you do that. Oh well, it will be great to play along and be wondering when he will show up. I like that about KOTOR-knowing the people involved but not knowing when you meet them. Thanks for all of the great discussion everyone! Ya'll made my first topic very enjoyable.

Arm upgrade ideas: Flame thrower, blaster, grenade launcher, vibroblade, computer spike/security spike attachment(for hacking into systems, eliminating the need for spikes thereby saving your spikes for use by other NPCs)

khollar replied to Fettforce88's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's the first that I've ever heard of. I don't think even Halo 2 had that! -
