  1. Vader. (note the 'period') Seriously though. Maul was completely overrated. He could have easily been one of the coolest characters in Star Wars but instead he was just a dummy. All he did was fight, and he lost. I do have to give some props to Sidious, but for some reason he never seemed to have the presence Vader had. I consider Vader to be the best character in movie history. Let's face it, he had everything going for him. He's got the look. He's got the voice. He's got the intimidating presence. And he's powerful. As for Exar Kun, Marka Ragnos... Screw it. I'm just gonna say it. I don't give a crap about them. The fact is, I could write a book and say that Darth Whoever took on 100,000,000,000,000 jedi in lighsaber combat and killed them all. Or I could say that Darth Someone did somesuch other all important thing that makes him the most powerful sith ever. Bottom line, I don't really give a crap about EU. For the most part, I just ignore it.
  2. I'm kind of curious. Does everyone think I'm nuts or does anyone think I may be onto something here?
  3. Hm... I didn't consider that. How big would they have to be? I just read that one of the party members is a Mandalorian. If the droids are a 'petable' size, then who knows...
  4. So... Newest theory to come out of my brain. Has anyone thought that the 'pet' might be a basalisk war droid? I don't really have much to go on. Really only two things. The first is that someone asked if it was like a remote or something and Akari said something about that being in the right direction. Second, a line stuck out to me playing the first one the other day "We were stripped of our weapons and our war droids" or something very roughly along those lines. To me that makes it sound like everybody has their own just as everyone would have their own weapon. Any takers?
  5. What glitch is that?
  6. The strength requirement isn't about the weight of the lightsaber, it's about how when you hit someone else's lightsaber, they've got 2 arms worth of force behind it compared to your only one. It would be like arm wrestling and letting your opponent use two hands. But you also have a point about dexterity. So here's my new and improved idea. Instead of giving you the bigger of the two modifiers between dexterity and strength, like it did in the first one, it should give you the smaller of the two. This may not be completely realistic, but it is somewhat realistic and would definately do the job of balancing it out to make single saber a decent option. It would be as it should be: the 2 saber and double saber techniques would be a lot harder to wield effectively, but they would still be better for those who could do it well.
  7. First, don't take this the wrong way, but I don't really care what they do in Jedi Academy. Second, you do have a point about there being more force behind a staff attack. But I still say that 2 sabers should give you a better defense. With 2 sabers you can put them in 2 different places at once. With a staff, you can put one side more or less where you want, but the other goes to where it has to go. And I really don't see why you couldn't defend yourself easily with 2 sabers. What kind of movements could you make with a staff that you couldn't make with one of the sabers? Sabers would give you much better range of motion and I don't see them taking any more effort to get into position.
  8. Yes, I've always felt that force powers are neither inherently lighside or darkside. In fact, I've always seen almost all the force powers as being basically the same thing, namely telekinisis. Luke grabs stuff (usually his lightsaber) When Vader uses "force choke" I've always seen this as him telekineically reaching over to the person and physically choking him. Now here's where my theory gets a little... I don't know what the word is. Some of you will probably think I'm nuts, others will think I'm, well, no. You're all gonna think I'm nuts. My theory is that the Emperor's force lightning is also telekinisis. He is so incredibly strong in the force that he can use it to move innumberable amounts of electrons through the air, creating an electric shock thing that is in effect lightning. Now take the Dooku/Yoda battle. Dooku has the same skill, only to a lesser degree. But Yoda, being the awesome controller of the force that he is, actually uses the force to stop all of the electrons. Yeah, I know it seems really crazy. But then, that's why I like it. Anyway, where was I going. Oh yes. I agree with fearless jedi (I think that's who it was) Instead of having certain force powers only available to those with certain allignment, using certain force powers should CHANGE your allignment. My only addition is that this should only work up to a point. I don't think you should be able to achieve darkside/lightside mastery by sitting there shocking people all day. Actually, it might be good if it only worked to make you darker. I mean, the dark side is supposed to be the one that is easy to fall down. Anyway, you all get the idea (I hope)
  9. I somewhat agree with Darth. The easier techniques should be easier to use, but the harder ones should be better in the end. The only thing I disagree with really is that he put wielding a double bladed saber as harder than wielding two single bladed sabers at once. That and that the double bladed has the best defense. Personally, I think that 2 singles gives you a better defense because it's more versatile when you think about it. You can simply do more when the two sabers aren't attached at the end. I really think that both attack and defense should get better from single to double to dual singles.
  10. The biggest downside for me was the way the darkside/lightside thing worked. To start off, the dark side path was completely ridiculous. As it has been mentioned in many places, almost all of the darkside things were like junior high school bully actions instead of the evil mastermind actions I would have liked. What does a dark jedi have to gain by killing an alien who was earlier helping him cover up murder? Nothing. There was no thought in that area. But even the lightside didn't make a whole lot of sense. Sure, you're killing a whole bunch of people, but as long as you decline a reward for it, it's okay? Other notes along these lines... You can walk into someone's apartment and kill her because she has a bounty on her head, but if you challenge someone with a similar bounty to a match in the dueling ring, you get darkside points. Whatever. Also everything was to black and white. You could really go through every dialog and say "Okay, this one is the light side option, this one is the darkside option, and this one looks pretty neutral." Other things that bugged me... Lack of cool, flowing robes with hoods I couldn't extinguish my lightsabers at will Certain parts wouldn't let you use the skills of other party members, you had to use your own That's about it. Oh, also worth mentioning is that you couldn't go to the Sith Academy and become a Sith instead of a jedi. Once I started a file for the sole purpose of doing that, but then stupid Bastilla made me go to Dantooine and do that whole thing anyway. Then when I went to Korriban, no matter what I did I couldn't take over the Sith Academy... Wow. That turned out to be a lot of whining for one of my favorite games.
  11. Yeah. I totally thought I had to increase both my strength and dexterity (strength for my saber, dexterity for defense) and then yesterday cruising around this forum I saw somebody mention that it takes the higher modifier between dexterity and strength. Needless to say, that TOTALLY changed things for me. I promptly started a new game, one in which I will actually be able to increase some other attributes.
  12. Ok. I'm sure this has been brought up before, but I don't know if anyone has suggested this and I don't want to sift through hundreds of posts to look for it. So. In the first KoTOR, lots of people didn't like that there was no real advantage to using only one single lightsaber. It was better to use 2 or a double. This time around, people seem to want there to be an advantage of sorts for the people using only one saber. Now I just recently (don't even get me started on THAT) found out that dexterity can modify lightsaber attacks instead of strength if dexterity is higher. I suggest that in the next one this should only be true for using one single saber. That would make sense anyway. If you are using two hands to control one saber, strength, while helpfull, isn't necessarily that much of an issue. Moving with a lot of dexterity can make for good attacks. When using two sabers or a double saber, one would need much more strength in order to weild them properly, due to the fact that only one arm's worth of strength is controlling each blade. So, in short, my suggestion is that if you are using a single saber, dexterity or strength modifies attack. If using two or a double saber, strength is the only modifier for attack. This means that those not using a double saber must either pump both dexterity and strength, wear armor that restricts their force powers, or sacrifice their defense. Lemme know what you think or call me an idiot if this has already been suggested.
