I think this is the 3rd time in my life.. I'm not the guy that goes looking for fights and I never throw the first punch, but in hindsight I have to admit I went out pretty angry and so, to no surprise, I found exactly the trouble I was looking for. Had a good talk with a friend about it and realized learning from these kind of mistakes is how you grow in life.

TIL the Scandinavian languages are probably just messing with British people for the hell of it.. There are far too many of these to be a coincidence.

And this is where northern Europe and the rest of the world is different. We've created a system so all encompassing that we are in a very real sense "the state", while for the rest of the world 'The State' is something barely tolerable, cumbersome, corrupt, disingenuous - a necessary evil.. This is a functioning social democracy, as close to Democratic communism as you get.. We believe and trust in the inherent good of our state and the system - and hate the politicians that wants to change it too much (but never hate the state).. Which is why the rich here make a lot less of a fuss when they hand over 60-70% of their income. Now for your average American or southern European however, it's almost like it's the exact opposite. There are some politicians that do good, but the state will always almost always do bad. So why should they pay 70% of their income to something they see as inherently bad? of course they won't.. It's great it works here and I too fear that short sighted politicians here will ruin it.. But it won't work outside of our countries, unless they massively restructure their mindset, civic administration, checks and balances and societal feeling of responsibility - not just communal. They need to find their own way of creating a better system for them, I seriously don't believe they will ever be able to use ours. just as it would be catastrophic for us to use theirs. I think the best course for America is regional state power and a much much looser federal government, much like the original idea of EU (something we should also move back to imo).

Well that being said our minimum wage is also around 20$.. I had a salesman job where I got 4500$ after taxes.. So that needs to be taken into account as well. It will be absolutely impossible to implement with a min. wage around 5$. Even with ~50-60% tax. The system needs highly efficient unions, high government trust and high communal trust to work.. Something America with it's emphasis on personal freedom will never be able to do. But I for one have come to think it's good that we have such a diversity in the western world, we can all think the grass is greener on our pasture

Ding ding, we have winner. If it's a recurring problem (more than 3 times in row), this will very likely be the case. JFSOCC, you do seem intelligent - so see through the excuses your ego is throwing in your face and start taking control of your own life - otherwise it's just gonna repeat itself. My best advice- start going out and taking chances, talk to girls - maybe not hitting on, just socializing at first (depending on your level of need). It's scary as hell sure, but only for the first 5-10 times .. then it gets more and more fun and easier and easier. I went from mild social anxiety to one of the most social people I know - the trick is to keep trying.

'Cute' is something small, boyish and harmless.. Qualities no man would want to be associated with, at least not all in one.

Cute? Well ok, seeing as you're asian - perhaps something more down your alley. Hideo Muraoka, half Japanese half Brazilian. Ah?
