  1. what you don't seem to get is a) my comments had nothing to do with the current problem and b) the quasi-governmental organizations were handing out bad loans because of the myth (propagated by politicians) that everyone should own a home. what i was getting at is that if the government got out of the business of regulating business, there would be no reason for business to grease political wheels (why bribe a politician when he can't influence your bottom line).

Thats crap and you know it, there has never been a point in american history where the two didn't overlap. Who do we buy all those nifty toys from that secure national security? who does all that drilling and resource exploitation on government owned land? who builds all those federal buildings across the country? sea ports? air ports? roads?

  2. The show isn't bad, but the fact thats he's always runny around with that animated skeleton takes me out of the story too much. I keep wondering if they're going to tell us how they managed to raise her from the dead and how her skin got so leathery

  3. I know you're trying Volourn so I'll give you a softball.

1,333 yrds. rushing + 771 yrs. receiving = more then anyone else.

You're trying in earnest to troll and I get that, but the key to being an effective troll is picking good topics where your opinion isn't totally pedestrian. Look for better subjects to apply your vaunted bitchy attitude towards and we'll both come out ahead.

    roofies, is it?

  4. Right, and in Favre's case he hadn't been reinstated so he wasn't obligated to keep his mouth shut by being under contract. Regardless, most NFL fans see the situation as unfortunate but one of Favre's own making, he definitely took the bigger hit.

In other news, we can all breath a little easier, Brian Westbrook's MRI on his ankle came out negative, he might even play against the Bears. http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/news/Tas...?story_id=16227

Good to see the league keep its best player.

  5. I've heard that one of the ways that Guliani cleaned up New York (and it's irrefutable that he *did* clean it up) was to have the police drive more slowly through the city. When the cruisers were flying through the city on their way to whatever emergency was going on people felt like there wasn't anyone there watching them, but slow the cruisers down, give the police more presence and people feel more accountable... or paranoid... whatever...

Now I'm not sure if any of that is verifiable, but it does seem logical, at least.

I also remember reading that during that time deaths of innocent, unarmed citizens by the police went up over 300%, so there is a trade off. Lots more collateral damage

  6. Olivia, she was one of the other kids on the small bus. I can still remember her helmet glistening in the morning light, her blank eyes fixed upon the general area of my left ear, her lips parting to let an ""ahhhhhhhhhggggggg" escape. I knew for the first time that I wasn't alone and never would be.

  7. Has anyone read the Artemis Fowl novels? Is he up to Douglas Adams' standard?

Or more to the point, can anyone think of an instance where someone substituting for the original author didn't produce utter crap?
