  1. I want to play Batman: Arkham Asylum and Dragon Age but my graphics card is melting so they cause blue screens of death. So in the meantime I'm playing The Void which is as beautiful first-person-survival-thriller-RPG-turn-based-strategy game. I booted up STALKER and enjoyed the atmosphere but my first go at combat sucked so I put it down again. But I did this with Torment and Deus Ex as well (my favourite games of all time) so I'm not terribly worried. I tried playing Indigo Prophecy and while I could see myself enjoying it, the control system is so moronic it would send my insane. I'm not sure I'm willing to play it. Oh, I'm also playing Aquaria which is this neat little indie 2D sidescroller on Steam. It's got great graphics, voice-overs, story and gameplay, though. Quite immersive.
  2. 'Artsy' as in Morgoth is above playing/enjoying it, like most games, books and movies out there. Honestly, this game being artsy is secondary. It's also got great gameplay mechanics and atmosphere. Haven't played The Path, sorry. For reference, on Metacritic (aggregator), reviewers give this game an average rating of 80%, users give it 85%. Usually an 'artsy' game does well with reviewers but not with users. It's DRM-free so you should be able to download it from another digital store. You might want to ensure they don't use some sort of online validation system like Steam first though (i.e. their own DRM, which I'm guessing is the reason you're avoiding Steam). E.g. http://www.direct2drive.com/8688/product/B...e-Void-Download Although it says "This product is available worldwide excluding South Africa, Australia, and Western Europe." WTF? I wonder if New Zealand counts as part of Australia there... Or perhaps: http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-VOID/the-void
  3. Violet I think, but I haven't had any of that yet! The 'negatives' section of Colours in the game journal (Chronicles) confuses me.
  4. Same. That was one of the most awesome things about it.
  5. Considering the huge need for Emerald and Gold in at least the early part of the game, I think I'll restart so I can plant more of those trees. 2 of each doesn't seem to be enough. Does anybody know why trees produce less each cycle? I mean trees that are planted each cycle (not the diminishing returns when they're running out). At first it was 46, but now it is 36 for a fresh tree. Is it because I've been using too much Silver in the world or what?
  6. Every review I have read has spoiled the game too much, so no. Go buy!!! I'll quote the start of one for you though:
  7. Hahaha jags. Yeah play KB:TL first. Armoured Princess is a stand-alone expansion. I forgot to mention that. They are both as good as each-other.
  8. Basically, since blood is equivalent to Colour (your lifeforce) in the game.
  9. Have barely played it but I'd give it a highly recommended so far. They also have a game a "A farewell to Dragons" which appears to be an oldschool RPG like Baldur's Gate. It could maybe give Dragon Age a run for its money because it's doing will with reviewers. Will buy it soon. Edit: Also, as per my other thread, I highly recommend The Void to everyone!
  10. It's an awesome first-person survival-thriller-RPG made by some indie Russians. It features brilliant voice-acting for a translation (or heck, for any computer game) and the inventory/interaction/skill/magic system called Colour is unique, fun and challenging. The atmosphere and art are probably the best parts of it, though. It's on Steam right now for half-price (i.e. $9.99). It's worth at least triple that because it's as good as any typical new release by major publishers. http://store.steampowered.com/app/37000/ Note: it seems to run well on lower-end machines! Note 2: logistically, the Colour system is difficult to wrap your head around at first (and heck it is half the fun of the game - you're still figuring it out half-way through), so expect to start the game more than once.
  11. What the hell Gorth? I didn't circumvent the freaking filter, I even filtered it myself, as I've seen countless others do on here before. Go celebrate Christmas instead of editing posts!
  12. And we haven't even mentioned merchandising yet! Indeed. It is expected to have a second week showing which is just as strong as its first, so that will be a good indicator I think.
  13. I was a bit disturbed when she said **** but then I calmed down when she said ****. This is probably a uniquely Australian reaction.
  14. Money spent making film: $236 million Money spent advertising film: $150 million Money earnt world-wide in the first week or so of screening: $300 million
  15. what, you don't believe in supply and demand? even socialists understand that one, they just think they can thwart it. never did figure you as a bright one, however. taks yeah, big business never mistreats its workers...supply and demand. hahahhaha
  16. Cheers Tigranes. A few people have mentioned Indigo Prophecy so I'm curious. I've completed almost every game I've ever bought. Sometimes years after buying them, but that doesn't bother me at all and is none of your business. Apparently you can toggle a boolean flag in the .ini file to enable all the cut content.
  17. Not to mention the DRM-free singe-file digital format.
  18. What are your opinions on the following games? Silent Hunter 3 World in Conflict Majesty Gold (includes xpack) Majesty 2 Mount & Blade Europa Universalis 3 Complete (seems to include xpacks) Gothic 3 (metacritic says 63%? Ew!) Sword of the Stars Ultimate Collect (includes xpacks) Indie games: Gish Roboblitz Mr Robot Crayon Physics
  19. $7.99 Trine $2.49 Braid $9.99 Machinarium $2.50 AudioSurf $3.39 Indigo Prophecy $4.99 Prince of Persia The Two Thrones
  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvkgyCVfME4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AO8JGDiRmtA&feature=fvw I plan on seeing this.
  21. TLJ is the first one. I haven't played the sequel. Not sure if I want to either - it'd be like playing a sequel to Planescape: Torment.
  22. What did you want from that part of the sale? It seemed that the titles there were mainly older-to-very-old ones. Also, I think everything excluding the deals labeled "today only" will remain the same, so unless you were after one of those you should be fine. You're right. Just Mirror's Edge and maybe Operation Flashpoint if the reviews are good.
  23. ****, I can't find my debit Master Card. 14 hours till today's part of the sale ends! Ahhhh!
  24. Oh holy ****, between Steam and GOG I'm going to have games to play for the next 5 years.
  25. Considering about half of those games are already on my GOG wishlist, this is epic. Glad I didn't buy them earlier. Buy them all. I'm about to buy Sanitarium, but having already bought TLJ and Psychonauts I can guarantee they are worth it.
