What you've done today - There will be no dawn for Men
majestic replied to Gorth's topic in Way Off-Topic
No green skies, but we've had the apocalpyse come and go several times recently. Including a tornado not far away from where I live (like 80 miles or so). I can't recall an F4 level tornado that happened here before, ever. Lots of hailstorms with egg-sized chunks of ice, floodings with rivers eight meters above their usual levels... yeah, 's been pretty wild. -
One other thing, watching the odd episode of Violet Evergarden has made me click on a YT video of a pair who just started to watch the episodes and does these weirdo reaction videos. I find myself enjoying them for some reason. They're just at episode two now. Hah. Well... I realized something in re-watching a few episodes here and there. This just really pushes all the right buttons for me. It just works, in spite - or maybe because of - the melodramatic elements that are present. In the original sense of the word, not the pejorative it's become now (and if you don't like melodrama why would you watch anime in the first place? It feeds off of it!). And... I've come to the conclusion that I really hate the ending of the movie, and what the worst part about that is, if you'd pick any random ten thousand people who liked the anime, the specials and the film and ask them, 9999 of them would say the ending was great. That really feels like a "me" thing. It's worse even because prior to that it looks like the ending will surpass every expectation I had until it then simply does... what it does. *sigh* I wish I could say I have no idea what you mean, but I get that too, from time to time. I'm still not done with Agents of SHIELD, and I love that show (I've mentioned it once or twice). The last season started super strong and was fun, and I just... dunno. Can't get myself to watch, and that's with every other part of my brain screaming to simply finish it. Meanwhile I have an active desire to watch the rest of Love Live!. Whatever the hell is wrong with me. Eh, I could provide some external pressure. I'll just post an unmarked spoiler every day you don't watch an episode! definitely not a spoiler: Watching that intro that makes perfect sense. That produced an insane amount of nostalgia just from the intro, and I haven't even seen the show. Well that makes it even more appealing. Heh.

Well aren't you a tease. I almost thought you'd watch some CCS there. Also, yikes, that doesn't sound lighthearted at all. More like the polar opposite. Maybe I'll try that after JoJo's done. And the, uhm, Tuxedo Mullet. edit: Wait, I overread "other party" so that makes sense. Ah, well...
-
Now only the movie is left, but I don't... nah, not going to do that one now. Lali-ho! Normally I'd post about what I've just seen now, but I'll sleep over it. The door reminded me of the Door in Charlie the Unicorn, episode three.

But mullets were all the rage in the 80ies, ultimate or not. Being Tuxedo Mullet in the earls 2000s takes some steel balls. Utena 38: Yay...

Seek not wickedness amongst your fellow forumites, lest it finds purchase in your own posts. But you raised your gaze to the sun, and as its light flooded your being, the light of your own eyes diminished. Now you are all but blind to these depths, only whispers and rumors left. Knowledge of what once was, but shall never be seen again. Only we are left to stare into that darkness, and we do it gladly. As it should be. As it must be.

Lots of carbs, fat and salt, by the looks of that. SCNR.

A facepalm would be nice.

Yeah, tell me about it. Not all of that is stuff I'm looking forward to. Looking at you, Sailor Moon manga. Kinda hoping the live action Sailor Moon keeps being as goofy as it began, that might be some comedy gold then. Also really need to catch up on some live action stuff. And sleep. So much sleep. Night, for realsies now.

Bashir plays a 60ies Bond-style secret agent on DS9, and re-enacts the Battle of Britain with Miles. Other than that, drawing up a bit of a blank. Right, Enterprise has movie nights, but that would require me to acknowledge Enterprise. Which I kind of don't want to.

I have two episodes of Utena left, but I think I'll call it a night. The day has been exhausting, and while it's more fun to watch Utena when your brain's a mush because nothing really bothers you about it (not even Utena finding out about Anthy's late night, uhm, activities) and it doesn't matter at all if things happen for no real reason. I don't think any saving throw in the world will rescue that ending. edit: I just realized the first paragraph simply ends. I'll leave it like that, it really proves my point. Good night guys, the TV thread's been a riot. Sort of. Could have done without the Pegasus part. @KP the meanie zucchini have you decided on Utena yet?
-
Try as a might, I can't come up with a decent reply to that. DIO, his eyes stingy.
-
Amazon Trio, at Crystal Lake. Or let's make that even worse, perhaps: Makoto, her dress frilly. edit: I think I just ruined Darmok forever with that, and @KP the meanie zucchini is to blame for coming up with the idea.

Why does Toga have a motorcycle all of a sudden? I... sure. By this point, everything is daijoubu with me.

Drills, uniforms, shaving every day, being subjected to the whims of sadistic morons. Yeah, hard pass. Military life is just not for me. I spent my nine months in the army and hated every last day of it. Except the week where I got sick because our immediate superiors thought it a fun idea to pretend we're the Wehrmacht in Russia and sent us out in the cold and snow at -20° C in our summer gear. That was fun.

I don't like the Prophets either, and for the record, while I like Q the character, the Q as a race are such an infathomably stupid idea that I'm surprised the writers came up with as many decent episodes involving them as they did. Even the Voyager Q episodes were some of the better ones. With Discovery maybe, Picard? No. That entire series hinges on the idea that the Federation turned into Trump-America within 25 years, based on a crisis that isn't even in the ballpark of possible. I wouldn't ever do it, but you could kind of watch a few select season one and two episodes, and then go for three. You can potentially skip the first season completely, but you'd miss out on Measure of a Man without forming some attachment to Data prior to that, and the preceeding season two episodes won't cut it completely, I think. Yes, it really is a conundrum.
-
Spoilered, because horror: Ah, screw it. You will suffer. You will ALL suffer: And yes, that's some hot girl on horse action. And she's like nine. So that's perfectly fine, nothing to see here. Nothing!
-
You're one evil meanie zucchini, really.

Visiting Japan sure would be nice, stroll around and try all the food I keep seeing in TV shows . Alas, I doubt that I'll manage.
-
Have you watched his 50 hour documentation on movie making yet?
-
Sokath, his eyes uncovered. Well, it's the most fitting reply, sort of. Plus it's been a while. Not sure if I should be frightend that I remember that much or proud of my nerdiness. Great, now I want to watch Darmok. edit: Klingon is for amateurs. Yeah, well, dunno. I'd put most of season one at D- or worse. Anything that has early Wesley in it for longer than 2 minutes also auto-defaults to F. Except Where No Man Has Gone Before.

The quote function cannot your table. Well... to quote something non-trek yet strangely fitting for this forum: I'm sorry that you feel that way, old man. edit: Seriously though, in what universe is Code of Honor anything but an F-tier episode, or maybe an S-tier if you go for the absolute trashiest Trek-trash you could find? edit 2: I don't even disagree that Season 5 is the begin of the decline of TNG's average episode quality. But everything, even season seven, is ahead of one and two. Not even Sub Rosa is as bad as Code of Honor. Although it's really close. Really close to being the worst Trek episode of all time even. Yet, most of the episodes I'm really looking forward to when rewatching TNG come from seasons 4 and 5.

What are you Playing Now: Living the Game Life
majestic replied to Amentep's topic in Computer and Console
I've been goofing about in the StarCrawlers: Chimera alpha. Still really rough around the edges, and I'm hoping they won't keep the auto-heal button in the game. When you press space, turns fly by, and you have auto-healing, so when you're down on health, instead of using your consumables or anything you just stand there and wait for a spell. Well, and press space. I sure hope that won't end in a time limit. I could get behind patrols showing up eventually, or something though. Still an alpha, after all. Not liking the Force Psyker changes so far. -
