you probably dont want to hear this but since your having such a big issue i would recommend waiting a month then come back. once you get by major bugs the game is great but since this issue is consistent for you it may be better to just wait for several patches. on the bright side it isnt nearly as bad as say skyrims bugs....

so you bring up BG in your post which apparently you dont remember was just as buggy if not more so then this. all games have their issues. look at skyrim that game is one of the buggiest games still. even with all the patches it brakes and needs unofficial patches to work for a few hours without a crash.... so unbunch your panties and wait like the rest of us. yes the bugs are bad but they are working on it and last i heard expect to have the first patch done this week. is it really such a bad thing to need to play the game 2 or 3 more times?

lose a stronghold fight and you will lose buildings. this is not a bug, you will need to pay attention to those fights. i would recommend hiring as many high security people as you can. i dont know what the max for it is, maybe 8? also dont auto resolve unless you feel like making more buildings most the guards suck but again not a bug.....

i honestly cant say i care which one it is i like both ways i do hope that if they do real time with pause we get a lot of options for weather or not the game pauses automatically when such and such happens just like in baldur's gate
